  1. Review titled Ward 15

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was in Ward 15 yesterday for day surgery. The whole experience went smoothly, I was kept informed throughout and all the staff from the porter, nursing staff, doctors and the consultant were absolutely wonderful. They were so efficient, kind and caring, I can’t praise them enough. This ward and this hospital is outstanding. Thank you to everyone who I saw yesterday.

  2. Review titled Attitude disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2024

After googling for morning after pill, suggested contacting walk in centre. I did this. The attitude of the man on the phone was disgusting. Made me feel stupid as well as a time waster. He said ‘no!! U can’t talk to us. No! Call 111!’ Surely 111 is medical non emergencies but almost? He was awful. I have since called 111. Who recommend me going to wansbeck walk in. I will not be going. I would rather pay for this than have this type of attitude / reception. Awful.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I just want to say a huge thank you to the out of hours doctor that assessed my baby at the weekend. She was incredibly patient and kind and spotted something we were not even aware of which resulted in our baby receiving immediate treatment at cramlington hospital and being admitted overnight. Our baby is now on the mend and I am so grateful for the support provided during that assessment. Would defo recommend to anyone but especially those with young children and infants Amazing service thank you

  4. Review titled Piece of meat

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 October 2023

Not one member of nursing staff that I spoke to today even said hello, let alone used my name. Just walked up barked confirmation details and walked off. Absolutely felt like a piece of meat being processed, as quickly as possible. Had hoped since my previous experiences of wansbeck some improvements had happened, going on today, they haven't.

  5. Review titled Exceptional Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jonathan Green - Posted on 22 September 2023

Only in for a fairly routine arm op, but the service, attention, friendliness, professionalism and humour of every member of the team was exceptional. Literally from the checking in, to explanation of every part of the process, to execution of every part of the process, right through to the post surgery care and everything in between was a pleasant experience. Which for someone who is petrified of needles and anaesthetic is saying something! The extra toast didn’t influence my views either. Promise. Thanks so much to the whole team who delivered an absolutely first class service today. And v nice to have all the guys on the same ward as me saying the same thing. You are worth your weight in gold all of you!

Dear Jonathan, Thank you for your lovely review. We are really pleased to hear you had a pleasant experience, from start to finish and the team managed to look after you throughout the whole process. Having a needle phobia can be difficult; but we are delighted this didn't impact the exceptional care you received. The extra toast is also a nice touch! We will make sure your review reaches the team. Best Wishes, The Experience Team.

  6. Review titled Patronising nurse practitioner

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 September 2023

Referred here by 111 online for an injury, man at reception was lovely and polite, friendly and checked me in. Screened to be checked by a rude nurse practitioner who said I shouldn't be there as my injury was longer than 3 days old and it was an urgent centre, which I understand but bearing in mind I was told to attend Wansbeck by 111 online. Told my injury did not meet criteria for any x-ray (again I'd understand, if I wasn't told in such a rude manner) and asked "what do I think I've done"... That's why I'm there. Was made to feel like being in the room with me was a waste of her time as she yanked the door handle open and stormed out the room leaving me in there still to put my shoe and socks back on. The whole experience with the nurse practitioner was patronising, I wouldn't have attended if I wasn't told to, and I certainly don't wish to return if that's the service received.

Attended Ward 15 to have metalwork removed from elbow. The care and attention received was first class from reception, Ward staff, Theatre staff to Consultant. Nothing was too much trouble.

  9. Review titled Two Week Wait For Cancer Disaster

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Paula Torrance - Posted on 09 August 2023

I am on a two week wait following a referral by my GP. I hadn't heard anything from the hospital a week following my referral, so I visited my GP Practise for inform them of this. When I got home I found a letter from the hospital saying I had an appointment on the 4th of August at Wansbeck, the letter arrived 4 days after the appointment. I tried to call the hospital to rearrange the appointment, only to find they have a expensive Chargeable telephone number that my phone contract wouldn't allow me to make. So there is no way for me to contact the hospital in order to rearrange this urgent appointment for a cancer referral. The government brought in laws to ban government bodies and organisations like the NHS from using premium rate numbers. Lets face it, some of the poorest people are disabled like myself, we have a limited income and cannot afford to pay 40 pence a minute to stay on hold for half an hour to re-arange a hospital. This is the third time my family have received letters after the appointment date, on one occasion no letter was received. I have witnessed many patients complaining of having the same experience. I have rasied a number of concerns regarding missing letters, or letters not arriving and patients missing appointments over the years. Nothing is done to stop this practise. This is unacceptable. Please contact me via email and give me your non chargeable number for switch board and breast cancer surgery. Please note, I can't afford the internet either and our internet service will be terminated before the end of this month. Poor people are being discriminated against by NHS trusts who make it impossible for us to contact them, thus limiting and restricting our access to services that we as tax payers are paying for. This is disgusting.

  10. Review titled brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Brian Robson - Posted on 16 July 2023

Following my recent replacement hip operation I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the hospital staff involved in my care. The service I received was second to none and totally faultless from admission to discharge. All the staff communicated very efficiently and as a bonus the food was great too. This is the second time in the last few years that I have had great service from this department and the standards remain extremely high. I am so grateful that I have had such wonderful service from the team here especially at a time of such stress and pressure within the NHS.
