  1. Review titled Left very unsatisfied - sadden by the lack of care

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 November 2023

Took my 83 year old mother with blurred vision and head aches - headaches have been ongoing for 1 month, blood pressure was high, blurred vision in one eye. Triage was swift, waiting time was very long. Nurse who accessed her was fine, but the doctor or consultant was awful, he didn’t lay down clean paper on the bed I had to ask and he said no no don’t worry, but I was worried. He never gave me any results from her bloods, which I’ve recently been told have high inflammation markers, he smelt so unclean it was difficult to stay inside the small room. He discharged us without paper work and told us to go to the eye ed which was the following day appointment only. Nothing has been found wrong with the eye but the eye doctor thought at the very least due to her head aches, high blood pressure, age and blurred vision, A&E should have preformed an ultra sound. So gave us paper work to take back there and said a medical officer would be aware of us coming over. We went to the medical unit, only to be told we’d have to go through triage again and the waiting time is around 5.5 hours. Sadly we left, at 83 with those symptoms she couldn’t wait that long after already having two days of waiting times of 4.5 hours each . We are still no the wiser what is causes her problems. It’s well documented the NHS is suffering and I totally get the hours these doctors work. But I felt there was a total lack of care and interest in my mother.

  2. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by S Thompson - Posted on 27 November 2023

My husband is under the Eye Department. Every time he has an appointment and is told he will get a further appointment, we have to ring for a date or the results of tests taken. Communication between patient and clinic seems non existent. We have made several calls this week to both the clinic and the Consultants secretary, the secretary answerphone keeps saying I am on leave, leave your phone number and hospital number with a few details and I’ll get back to you. Still waiting after having made calls two weeks ago. Tried the clinic, whilst at Walsgrave, the receptionist rang for us and the person he spoke to said they would ring us at home. Still no one has called. What does one have to do when being told they would get a further appointment. There is no communication at all. Doesn’t give one much hope regarding the NHS.

  3. Review titled Appointment on time.Good update on treatment.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

On time, good attention and advice. Pleasant, friendly experience Only downside, I didn't receive a letter advising me of appointment (was not an exoected routine one). Plus point was the text reminding me of appointment, which enabled me to ring to find out. The phone query was also dealt with with efficiency, and friendy manner

  4. Review titled My swallowing a fish bone

by Pollydoddle - Posted on 30 November 2023

I swallowed a Fish Bone and it was sticking in my throat. Quite frankly I was panicking felt like I was choking. Went to A&E at George Eliot but they didn't have facilities to remove it. So after X-ray to confirm it was still there I was sent to Coventry University Hospital. I had a 5-hour wait at ENT Department as they were very busy and only had one doctor on. But in the end the doctor put a camera up my nose and down my throat. I could see progress on a screen which took my mind off of it. The doctor tried to remove it with forceps that weren't quite long enough. So a Nurse had to find a longer pair, then the doctor very carefully and gently removed the large fish bone from my throat. Jokingly asked did I want to keep it as a Souvenir. Which I declined! It was such a relief to feel it gone at last. I wish I had took the name of this young doctor as he was brilliant and so kind to an elderly very nervous Lady. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Open Heart Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stuart James Hartley - Posted on 08 November 2023

The treatment, care and level of professionalism I experienced was outstanding. I felt I was in good hands, reassured, safe and secure throughout. Without exception all the team members I encountered before during and after my procedure were tremendous. I cannot thank them enough for their fantastic attitude to me and their work. What seemed to me to above and beyond was common practice. I can happy recommend this Cardio Thoracic department for anyone who has the requirement to have this kind of procedure.

  6. Review titled Great negligence and lack of communication and coordination

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was called in for an induction of labour on a sunday and tried 3 uncomfortable methods and then to be told i need to get down to the labour ward where they get to break my water and still waiting for more than 3 days...being a pregnant patient with gestational diabetes and was advised the baby needs to be taken out before 41 weeks...just a day to 41 weeks, we only keep getting moved from one ward to the other saying they need the bedspace for new patients. Sleeping on uncomfortable beds and chairs and then all you keep hearing drom the midwives are conflicting information telling you you're number one on the list and another says number 2 and another tells you number 3...

  7. Review titled Unsafe negligent “care”

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Hannah - Posted on 02 July 2023

Attended A&E following being sent across from Rugby hospital with a referral letter which is completely pointless as you still have to wait and the receptionist didn’t even want to see it! No wheelchair available when I arrived so had to wait for one to be found then offered zero help from the nurse despite me explaining my partners serious condition and total inability to walk. Absolutely appalling treatment from staff my partner was left sat in a wheelchair screaming and crying in pain for over two hours. When I tried to speak with staff about this I was dismissed with a snotty “we don’t have any beds” despite my partners symptoms being a potential spinal compression. The waiting room itself was absolutely filthy, heaving and stunk. Triage clearly have no idea how to prioritise patients as people who were walking, talking and even smiling were seen to before my partner who was writhing and shaking his pain was so unbearable. After questioning staff again he was taken through to be given gas and air and again was placed in the “fit to sit” bay despite knowing he has degenerative disk disease, two previous spinal surgeries, could not walk talk or move due to extreme pain and all the classic symptoms of a potential compression. Luckily another nurse who was seeing to another patient took pity and put him in the room next door with low and behold a free bed!!! Wasn’t seen by a doctor for hours, initially said about an MRI then said oh actually let’s just give you some more drugs and see how you are. Was in a majors bed for 28 hours not given a blanket or pillow despite asking several times and provided with no food, never even offered. This hospital is not only negligent it is downright unsafe if you ever need emergency medical care go somewhere else they are an absolute disgrace.

  8. Review titled Great Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Saw a lovely doctor today. Explained everything to me. Lovely manner. Hope I can remain under his care. Came away feeling fine. It does make one feel better when the consultant is helpful and pleasant. I say this everytime, shame not all Consultants are the same.
