  1. Review titled Poor waiting time and patient not kept up to date

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Pat - Posted on 07 March 2024

I am booked in for a routine MRI scan and arrived on time at 6pm as per appointment letter. The receptionist informed on arrival that the radiographer is running 15-30mins late. 20mins has passed and I was told the wait is 30mins. I then witnessed a radiographer came out to ask another waiting patient to either wait 1 hour or go to the scanner at the main hospital where she can be scanned straight away. I went back to the receptionist to ask when I would be seen and was told the 30mins was from when she last spoke to me at 1815. Nothing happened and I went back at 1900 to ask the receptionist when would I be seen, at this time I waited 1 hour already. The receptionist then called the radiographer who said I will not be scanned before 1930 and someone would speak with me in 15mins time. No one spoke with me and at 1915 I asked to speak with the manager in charge. The radiographer than came out and explained they have been overrunning since 12pm and other scanners in the campus and they intend to scan me in 20mins time. I was finally scanned at 1940, 1hr 20mins after appointment. Delays can be inevitable but the departmemt can do better keeping patient updated of delays

  2. Review titled Wonderful care

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 April 2022

My mother had an orthopaedic operation at UCH Grafton Way in April 2022 and we were extremely impressed with the standard of care throughout. The surgical team were wonderful and we felt very confident in their skills. Post-operatively, the staff on the surgical ward, the therapy team and the ENT doctor who also saw her were absolutely fantastic - as we couldn't visit during her stay, it meant a lot to the family that we knew she was being so well cared for. Thank you for all the personal touches and kindnesses, as well as the knowledge, that are so vital in this kind of situation.
