  1. Review titled horrible A&E experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 February 2024

Came to the A&E on a Sunday night with a broken wrist, in excruciating pain having to hold my wrist in my other hand in a fixed position to keep it a little more bearable. I was only seen in 12 hours, although there were no more than 8-10 people in the waiting room when I arrived. The specialist saw me at 9 am, left 'to fetch the x-rays', and never came back. Just went home, without leaving any notes for the next shift to know about my existence. Not even offered a sling until the morning came and the new shift came in. Took 3 hours and 3 discussions with doctors to finally get some more proper painkillers (they just kept disappearing with the promise to sort it out). If they were busy with anything, that mostly was work-unrelated chats and giggles, I had the opportunity to observe for a long time waiting to get some response to my painkiller requests. Had a wring fracture diagnosed, and the most horrible heavy and tight cast work that caused huge swelling and more discomfort to be replaced by a proper one privately. Glad I could use my private insurance to avoid the complications caused by the Whittington 'specialists' negligence and lack of basic skill.

I attended Whittington Hospital with my daughter on Wednesday 25 October and wanted to feed back how grateful we both were for the kindness and efficiency of every member of staff we encountered; our experience was an extremely positive one.

Still sitting here after 7 1/2 hours waiting to be seen by doctor even though I have history of heart failure and emphysema. The waiting room is filthy, as for the toilets they are unfit for use! Can’t believe how much it’s gone downhill

  5. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Freezing surgical wards, boiling hot rooms. Rude, lazy, uncaring Mercer ward nursing staff. Had to beg repeatedly for pain medication after surgery. Was laughed at when requesting a fan for the boiling hot room. My request was denied. After discharge I rang Mercer ward to discuss medication but was fobbed off to my GP.

  6. Review titled Fantastic service despite strike day

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim - Posted on 21 September 2023

Just returned from a great experience from A&E through to assessment by Orthopaedics nurse practitioner and X-ray service for a sprained knee/ligament strain, despite having to go there on a doctors' strike day. Everyone was extremely helpful, caring and positive, clearly enjoyed their jobs despite the pressure they must have been under. From the jolly and informative triage nurse to the extremely efficient and helpful Orthopaedics nurse practitioner I had great service, just hoping my sprain will heal quickly, as it's very debilitating. Thanks to great staff at the Whittington!

  7. Review titled The hospital service is a Joke

Rated 1 star out of 5

Had to go to A&E due to some emergency been waiting here for more than 10 hours still no updates from the doctor and if you ask any nurses they'll just give you a vague answer... It took them more than 7 hours to see 4 patients... The hospital emergency service is a joke if you have go waif more than 10 hours to get any updates from the doctors

  8. Review titled Phone call

    by Catlady666 - Posted on 18 August 2023

I was annoyed. My husband had an appointment last week. The imaging dept called his mobile. Did not leave a message. When I called them back I was informed by recorded message that department closes at 3 pm and to ring tomorrow. Why not call on our landline? [Unsure about 'Daily living support']

  9. Review titled Long waiting time

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2023

Husband waited two hours for his appointment to be told that he needed an x-ray by the consultant. The consultant seemed very rushed as we did not get time to discuss how the operation went and was advised by the consultant that the staples should have been removed prior to appointment. Have a great love of The Whittington but today was very disappointed at the length of time. I was pleased to be updated by your colleague of the waiting time. Unfortunately this lady seemed to be the only person with kindness and empathy. Very upset at the long wait and not having time with the consultant to discuss the outcome of my husband's operation.

  10. Review titled Lack of communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 August 2023

A doctor called me on 12/7 to inform me i have been placed on the 2 week path way as I need a hysteroscopy and biopsy following a scan in June. I received an appointment for 10/8. No information regarding what will happen at the appointment. I have called and emailed. I also contacted PALs but still no information. Inexcusable and unacceptable lack of information and communication.
