  1. Review titled Avoid if you value your health

Rated 1 star out of 5

Do not under any circumstances agree to go on Ward d8 at Stepping Hill. Yes the majority of the Staff are lovely, but there a couple who really let the rest of the team down. I was transferred there from d6, I was supposed to have treatment at 5pm and 7pm - these times were very very very specific on the information leaflet. The Staff thought 6pm and 9.30pm was close enough. That was night 1. Night 2 I was in pain, the Dr that arrived tried prescribing me codeine - despite me already being on tramadol. I made a comment about him having a baby face and looking about 15 - to then spend 10 minutes listening to him and a Nurse Totally totally slating me, that I was a horrible person etc. If I could hear them so could everyone else. Medications were often late - so meals when I should have been able to eat I couldn't because I'd not had my lansoprazole. I was in a lot of pain Weds night as I said so got zero sleep, the Dr from Gastro agreed to do bloods yesterday and then sent me home in a lot of pain - despite thinking I may have gallstones. This is probably because this was unrelated to what I went in with. Now I've found out she lied to me - you Don't get a scan quicker as an Outpatient than you do as an Inpatient

  3. Review titled Excellent patient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by The department was endoscopy - Posted on 09 February 2024

From entering the unit full of fear and dread my husband dropped me of and the attention from all staff on the endoscopy ward explained the procedure step by step and this removed all my fears completely, I would easily recommend anyone with fears of undergoing the similar treatment in the future, don’t worry your in the hands of caring professional staff.

  4. Review titled The appointment system could be significantly improved

    by sagittadh93 - Posted on 15 January 2024

While the care I received was good, the system around appointments was awful. The appointment time seemed to function as an arrive at time and not to relate at all to the time at which you would actually be seen. On both appointment occasions, I waited over 2 hours from the time my appointment was actually scheduled, to the time when I actually saw a consultant. Long waiting times seem to be standard practice in this clinic. My time is money - when I don't work I don't get paid. Appreciate being able to access care - but surely the appointment system could be significantly improved.

  5. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nicola Sullivan - Posted on 21 January 2024

My grandfather was admitted to ward b5, where he stayed for over 3 weeks. As a family, we cannot fault the care he received from all the staff. We got to know the Nurses and Healthcare assistants, (and even a couple of the patients!) and so the whole experience felt much more personal. They treated my grandad with the greatest care and respect. We even received a call when he'd been transferred home for palliative care, to make sure he'd arrived safely and was settled. I'm not allowed to name you all on here, but I hope this review reaches you, and you know just how grateful we all are to every single one of you!

  6. Review titled Very good practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have just had a prostate cancer diagnosed and dealt with in a few weeks. A blood test taken on 4th December showed a raised PSA. On 13th I was checked by a registrar in urology and had an MRI scan on the 22nd. On 15th Jan I had a biopsy and on 25th met with the head consultant, who carefully explained the results and discussed the options. Doctors, nurses and MRI technicians were all courteous and patient. I could not have asked for better treatment. It was the NHS at its best, in spite of the endless and growing pressures and difficulties caused in recent year by ever-changing P.M.s, chancellors of the exchequer, so-called ministers of health and their stooges.

  7. Review titled Little accountability, lack of basic care and humanity

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024

Having to ask for pain relief five times is not acceptable Patient was NBM from 7am and thus requested to be given food and drink at 5 or 6am. This was not done. Unacceptable. I could go on….there is no humanity in this level of care. I found junior members of staff failing in these basic aspects.

Ward c4 My husband received excellent end of life care whilst on this ward. The staff were all kind, caring and loving to my husband and also the family. If we were not with him, a member of staff say with him at all times. I can't thank them enough.

  9. Review titled Waiting

    by bravojn43 - Posted on 15 December 2023

Waited over an hour for an appointment for my 90-year-old wheelchair bound mother. Went and asked 3 times, given a 5 minute promise each time which didn't materialise.

  10. Review titled Waiting time and communication

    by castored36 - Posted on 21 December 2023

Running at least 1 hour late despite having a 9 am appointment. No explanation as to why, and I found the nurse rude when I enquired about the delay. Seems to be a lot of nursing/HCA staff doing very little in the department other than chatting and leaning on walls. Can’t believe this department is understaffed. Seem so inefficient and wasteful to me.
