  1. Review titled Over stretched & 8 hour wait

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 November 2023

Arrived at 6pm on a Monday. Spent 7 hours on a trolley in the corridor. Didn't get seen by a consultant for 8 hours. Stuck on a trolley for over 24 hours in A&E as no beds on ward available. Absolute chaos, felt sorry for the staff as it was so busy. It would be great if staff could be more mindful of the fact that patients & relatives can actually hear them talking & complaining about their colleagues & other patients - not professional at all. Was taken to St.Peters by ambulance as they had a Cardiac unit. Didn't see a cardiologist until 30hrs after arrival.

From start to finish the staff were friendly, welcoming and patient, explaining what was being done and checking regularly on my condition. Part of an overall process that has been fast and joined up.

  4. Review titled Poor time management

Rated 1 star out of 5

My son was rushed in early hours in severe pain the process to ensure his comfort and pain relief was interrupted by staff breaks and I had to watch my son in pain for an hour or so until I intervened to remind them of his pain, a 7 hour wait for a CT Scan is beyond appropriate for any medical service especially if it leads to life and death. I have to say the staff are especially polite and hard working but the service is broken, under staffed and poorly managed with poor communication. It feels like a third world service and I know it’s not the NHS but just this hospital, they told my son to provide sample and forgot to do this, nothing is noted, listed or communicated to the new shift taking over it’s not a service I would pay for so thank god it’s free or they be out of business. This hospital needs more staff and a better system.

  5. Review titled Amazing experience start to finish.

The care and attentiveness of all the staff towards my daughter who had surgery at Oak Ward today was sensational. The children’s ward made every aspect calming and inviting to keep my 5 year old at ease. It didn’t feel like the intimidating experience she was expecting, it was the complete opposite. Thank you thank you thank you amazing hospital staff xxx

  6. Review titled Excellent all round experience for elderly lady

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the excellent service received by my elderly mother who fell and broker her hip. To the lovely ladies who picked her up by ambulance and the fantastic A&E department for their thoroughness and kindness. They were so efficient and nothing was too much trouble. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors on Swan ward. In times when the NHS is stretched to the limit the care that the staff give to their patients is so heartwarming. What would we do without these caring people, without the NHS!!

  7. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I gave birth at the Abbey Wing couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised with the care, friendliness and speed of attention from everyone looking after us. My first birth was at Kingston hospital which we liked but since we moved we decided not to have to travel that far. We heard mixed opinions about St Peter’s but I have to say we had much better experience here than at Kingston in the end. Thank you to everyone, the maternity team, all the midwife’s nurses and doctors have been amazing. Thank you to all staff who were part of our journey for helping with the fast delivery of our gorgeous son!

  10. Review titled Terrific secondary cardiac rehab

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023

Following a heart attack and an emergency stent placement, the care team recommended that I participate in the cardio secondary risk management program. This includes a 6 week two days in the Gym program and two afternoon education sessions (holistic: food, meds, stress etc). Absolutely excellent program. Without this "on a plate for you" Gym program it is unlikely that I would have got back to being active very quickly. The team that coaches you (perhaps back) into being active is made of exceptionally able and caring staff (cardiac nurses, physiotherapists, exercise specialists etc). It is very individual and you are led through a series of exercise including stretches, resistance training and cardio that is appropriate to your level of heart fitness and medications. You do your exercises as a group, but you have individual levels e.g. your resistance band will reflect your muscle capability or your cardio reps/sets will change with time (you aren't competing) ... so that by the end you are able to independently manage your own exercise routine. In my case there were noticeable improvements in several of the measurable parameters. But that is the not the most important thing. The more important thing is that I became more confident that I could independently exercise - and not be unduly worried and anxious about "troubling" my heart. The rules of the review are that I am not allowed to name or identify staff. In this case that is sad. I thank each and end every member of team that helped me to recover. I am already missing the Gym sessions. I encourage anyone that is referred to the program to grab and run with the opportunity: it will, in my opinion, improve your life.
