I want to compliment the hand therapists who have been treating me at St Michael’s following wrist surgery. I’ve been very impressed by the thorough and caring service that I’ve received since my referral to the department.

I felt ok! The consultant carried out the surgery with no problems, I assume. Everything was ok until I developed an infection a couple of days later. I was pumped with medication to control the infection and pain but my determination didn’t stop me. Although I was off my legs for while, I was climbing out of the bed but I wasn’t aware of this at the time. I was made aware afterwards I needed extra care so I didn’t hurt myself, such as falling. After some time when I was able, I took myself with the help of other healthcare professionals to visit the bathroom on several occasions. So much so, I exhausted myself to the point I couldn’t stand anymore! This frustrated me as I wanted to walk to get home as quickly as possible and be with family! Finally, today is the day I go home!

everyone at st michael's hospital and st joseph ward worked together to help me through my first hospital impatient stay and operation. from the receptionist who was so reassuring on my pre-operative assessments visits, to the secretary who rang out of her hrs as she knew i was anxious ,to the calming respectful porter who took me to different procedure's, to nurses st joseph ward whose perfectly timed humour changed and got me through what could be scary moments, to the st joseph ward doctor who held my hand(not virtually) support ,to nurse who gave time for that lovely make me human shower / hair wash kitchen staff with their kindness and feeding the body and soul. they all provided me with true individual patient care and worked together to provide holistic care .a credit to the nhs in the 75th year.

I had a hydrocortisone injection in my hip at St Michael's and the whole experience was brilliant (despite having a needle shoved in my hip!). Everything ran to time, the staff were friendly and instructive. They even made me a cup of tea and fed me biscuits afterwards (plain digestives, but I'm not complaining). Big thank-you to all the nurses, doctors and porters involved.

All staff I encountered (receptionist, ward nurses, anaesthetist team, surgeons, recovery nurses and ward assistants) were amazing.. empathetic, friendly and caring. It made my day case experience stress free and comfortable throughout. Thank you

I am in my seventies and fell on black ice in December 2022, resulting in a fracture of my upper right humerus. The fracture was confirmed at West Cornwall Hospital, and I then had two subsequent visits to the fracture clinic at Treliske. I was referred for physiotherapy at St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle, where I met and was treated by Harry. I had several visits and Harry slowly but surely got my arm working again with a series of exercises starting with the lifting, swinging etc, of a walking stick. I had previously been doing pendulum movements as advised by the fracture clinic. Harry progressed me through "elastic band" exercises and I was discharged at the end of May, being fully able to move my arm. Harry was patient and friendly from the start and was always interested in how I felt about the exercises. I am very pleased with my treatment.

Hayle hospital and the staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, I was in a lot of pain after my op but the nurses were there for me and nothing was too much trouble even though they were flat out working making everyone comfortable. And not just the doctors and nurses made my experience bearable, the cleaners, cooks and servers were great. All I can say is thank you for a wonderful experience.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff at St.Michael’s Hospital, Hayle. From the minute I arrived to leaving, every member of staff I encountered was kind, friendly and incredibly accommodating. I was on St.Joseph’s Ward. The staff should be very proud of the gold star service they are providing. Thank you.
