  1. Review titled Great Team!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Debra Kaylor - Posted on 26 March 2023

I cannot speak highly enough about the care I recieved during my stay at Barts on the cardiology wards. I suffered an heart attack and was then found to have kidney damage. The team put me at ease and the care was amazing! I had my angiogram 14 days after my heart attack, as it was delayed due to the kidney damage and I cannot than them enough. Such an amazing team of kind and caring professionals that just don't stop working! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they all walk around smiling! I really cannot thank them enough! Brilliant hospital.

  2. Review titled Quick & helpful service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the drop-in x-ray service, expecting a long wait. I was pleasantly surprised to be seen within minutes. Staff were pleasant, helpful, and, most importantly, deaf-aware. I would recommend this service.

  3. Review titled No resolution

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2023

My time here was quick, maybe due to no patients. During my time I felt I was rushed so doctors could get out the door. No resolution to my health, just many possibilities of what it could be. So I still do not know my condition and I feel I wasn’t believed.

  4. Review titled Compassion Fatigue

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have attended Paget ward for chemotherapy throughout this year 2022 and I continue to attend. I am very ill and my cancer is terminal. Sadly I have found the nursing staff of Paget to be without compassion and perhaps fatigued by this. Paget is run like a chemotherapy factory. There is no time for questions or discussion, no reassurance and more often than not patients wait over 1 and half hours for treatment without explanation or apology. This ward is on over load and whilst the administration of chemotherapy is accurate the environment itself is depressing and staff unhelpful.

  5. Review titled Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation

    by Fortunate1 - Posted on 06 September 2022

I was admitted for a catheter ablation at the beginning of September at Bart’s as a day case on the NHS. The way I was treated from start to finish by nurses, healthcare assistants, doctors and the pharmacist was exemplary. The consultant who performed the procedure and his team were kind, communicated well with me throughout the procedure (done under sedative) and responsive. Straight after the procedure I was offered food, which was welcome and good. Against expectation I needed to stay in overnight. The nurses were kind, professional and good humoured throughout. Good teamwork and mutual support and respect between colleagues was consistently evident throughout my stay. At all times I felt reassured, genuinely cared for and above all, safe. Unfortunately, in my opinion, good news stories about the NHS don’t sell newspapers or attract web traffic or tv viewers so we typically only hear the bad stuff. My experience was extraordinarily good and whilst I appreciate that this isn’t the case for everyone, we should recognise when the NHS is excellent.

  7. Review titled Outstanding Respiratory Consultant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Najib Elgenouni - Posted on 08 September 2022

I was referred to the Difficult Asthma Clinic at St. Barts Respiratory dept for severe/worsened asthma. The Consultant provided me with well rounded support and care with access to inter/outer-departmental specialists, like the Asthma Physiotherapist. She also provided me with impeccable care and their attention to detail has been remarkable. This has given me an excellent approach for my respiratory condition other aspects of my health which have been affected. We don't hear enough praise about hard working and dedicated Dr's and Nurse like the team at Respiratory and I want them to know how much of a positive impact they have made on me, my family and my improving conditions which has been truly life changing. I can't thank you enough, thank you so much!

  9. Review titled Amazing Cardiac Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Mary G - Posted on 20 May 2022

I was referred to Barts from my local hospital and recently had a Alcohol Septal Ablation. The care I received was amazing. The Consultants and all the nursing staff were excellent, so kind, caring and reassuring which really put me at ease as I was very nervous. Everything about my procedure was explained very well. I cannot thank the whole Cardiac Department and Ward 3a (west) enough. A very busy ward but staff always had time for the patient. An added bonus was that my husband was allowed in the ward at anytime. Well done Barts!

  10. Review titled Not great

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 May 2022

I visited here for some help and advice as it was listed as the nearest minor injuries walk in to me and I was turned away by one of your nurses. The info provided on the website and 111 service is incorrect for your minor injuries centre. The nurse informed me I would have to go all the way to another hospital despite being worried and in pain and the centre being empty. Luckily another nurse did take a look for me and really appreciate their help and advice. Instead of moaning and turning patients away who come to you for help maybe some action should be taken to update what you do and don't treat online.

I am sorry for your experience. The information on the trust website is up to date regarding the minor injuries unit. We have been addressing the problem with 111 and the NHS website. I agree it is misleading at the moment as a unit we have no access to edit the information. We are a minor injuries unit and do not see minor illness. We would be grateful if you could feedback your experience to 111 as we hope the more patients that do this will lead to this been changed. Again I apologise for the experience you had.
