  1. Review titled Helpful, caring and efficient Rheumatology team

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have received excellent treatment and aftercare from the staff and consultants in this department for a number of years. After a period of remission I had a recent flare-up and was able have a consultation and follow-up treatment within a short time. Excellent in every way.

  3. Review titled Spinal unit education

I had the opportunity to attended the spinal unit for training purposes. I would like to tell you my journey. As soon as we entered the entrance we were met by a friendly member of staff. We were given information about our day. On the ward, the nurses were friendly, kind and very informative. We were shown around. Also, staff not involved with us smiled at us, said hello. This may seen a little thing, but its the cornerstone of a friendly environment. All the staff were great, informative, and they created a friendly, kind learning environment, which makes one feel comfortable to ask questions and learn. Absolutely fantastic experience. Thank

  4. Review titled Faint praise!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My daughter fainted this afternoon whist visiting her grandmother(-in-law) at her nursing home. I, her dad, was with her. Nursing home staff rang 999 and a First Responder arrived within minutes. He duly checked all her vital signs and passed the information on to the two ambulance men who arrived about five minutes later! She was taken to Southport and Formby District Hospital A&E department and received immediate attention upon arrival. She was looked after so well by all of you! We are in awe of all you do - my daughter is a Health Care Assistant in a Scots’ hospital Vascular unit - so was particularly appreciative of being looked after so attentively! Thank you so much for giving her her ‘mot’ once again after a scary couple of hours!

  5. Review titled Cannot thank you enough

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lin - Posted on 04 September 2023

I was brought to A&E after a serious fall and was seen really quickly. I had an X-ray and it was assessed I could not go home that evening as I was unable to weight bear. I was admitted to the ward in A&E where I was looked after really well. The next day the nurses were so caring and arranged transport home for me. I was very impressed how they dealt with so many people and I am very grateful to them.

  6. Review titled Fantastic joined up service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rebecca Fearn - Posted on 17 July 2023

I attended A&E with pain due to gallstones. I could not believe how quickly I was triaged, seen by nurse, then doctor, sent for x Ray and admitted. Fantastic service, staff and clear explanation of all the next steps. I was in a quiet room and didn't want to move onto the ward when a bed became free. Thank you all those who cared for me so well, long live the NHS and medals to all the staff please!

I was transferred from a.e to the a.c.u the level of care was the best. Was looked after and informed every step of the way, had many tests, and things booked going forward. From the minute I walked in and spoke to the secretary to the minute I left, it was all a positive experience. Thank you all the staff for looking after me your kind and caring got me through

  9. Review titled General Surgery

Just left ward 10b having had a sigmoid colectomy on the 12th. At all levels the standard of care was excellent and I can't thank the staff enough (this is also true of the staff at Ormskirk who carried out preliminary scans as well). I know that the NHS comes in for some flak from certain quarters on occasions. However, why this is, is a mystery to me. I only witnessed dedicated, professional and helpful staff. It made me proud of our public services, of which the NHS is definitely the Jewel in the Crown.

  10. Review titled Inefficient department

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I don’t think I’ve ever attended an A&E so poorly managed. I waited over 8 hours tonight for less than 10 minutes in total with a doctor / nurse, including triage, and I was not alone. No one was kept informed and whilst there were a lot of people it didn’t seem busy for most of the overnight time I was in the waiting room. Going an hour between name calls. Receptionist didn’t even know you could pay at the barrier or what to do when my phone (and payment method) had died. I thankfully realised I could pay at the barrier, and saved myself time and further delay. The majority of people in the waiting area could have been dealt with much faster than they were. I even had another patient barge into my triage appointment to complain about the queues and demand her relative be bumped up the queue. The medical staff that dealt with me were kind and helpful. But it really shouldn’t have taken that long.
