    I was taken into A&E by ambulance on 5/2/2024. The ambulance staff were very kind and efficient. On arrival at A& E, early evening, I was transferred to a cubicle in the cardiology section. All of the Doctors and staff that I came into contact with were extremely kind, helpful and efficient. I cannot fault how i was treated and am very grateful for everyone's help

    Despite the hospital being understaffed and people working under pressure, I was well looked after throughout by a friendly senior nurse and ‘practice tutor’. Doctor in charge of procedure warmly professional and courteous, anaesthetist cheery and reassuring, theatre staff showed very impressive teamwork. I was unable to view proceedings, having had my eyes covered, but was regularly asked about my welfare. The whole experience was a positive one, and I regret that the review protocols do not permit me to name any names. I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to a highly successful outcome.

    I recently had an out patients appointment with the Stoma Care Clinic for a pre operative information session. Wow! - what a lovely nurse. Such a kind, caring lady. I could talk to her like a friend - even though I'd never met her before. She answered all of the questions I had - a truly wonderful lady. The information she gave to me was outstanding. Thank-you very much for your kindness & care. All of the staff at the Digestive Diseases Centre have always been very kind to me. Always a smile to greet me by one particular Staff Nurse; that's what we need isn't it in this world of doom & gloom. Kind, relatable nurses. My surgeon has looked after me for many years - I can't put into words how much I appreciate him too. My thanks to everyone - take care - stay safe.

    The family of Jacqueline Pearce wish to thank all the staff in A&E for their care and subsequently the CC Unit, who although unable to save her, the wonderful doctors and nurses, treated her and the family with such care and commitment for which our gratitude has no words. The hospital is fantastic and modern and designed to make your visit as pleasant as possible with wall paintings of the bluebell railway passing through the beautiful countryside of Sussex etc., The CC Unit is equipped with the most up to date state of the art technology and the dedication of the outstanding NHS staff is possibly the best in the country. Thank you all again Diane

    After suffering a horrible ear injury on a Sunday evening during a doctors strike. I was treated with respect dignity,great care and skill by everyone involved under what must have been under very challenging conditions. I'm extremely grateful for the excellent care given that night. Thank you

    I went to Haywards Heath because I have a history of upper Gastrointestinal bleeds and had some bleeding. Despite the strike, I was seen in 40 minutes and admitted to Clinical Decision Unit because my Hb was a little down, prescribed some fluids and an infusion, and then told to go to Emergency Ambulatory Care in Brighton to see the Gastro team where the plan was a camera test the next day. They asked if I could make my own arrangements to get across but to leave quickly. This was a bit of a logistical challenge but not their fault. However, I did not leave Haywards Heath until just after 3pm. Whilst there, the heavens had opened and getting to Brighton on public transport was a challenge with the line to Brighton flooded and diversions in place. At 4.45 I rang Brighton and whoever took the call was so helpful but despite them expecting me, they said if I wasn’t there by 6pm I should go to a&e. I got to the hospital late at 6.20 and ended up in a&e with 30 or so other people. The receptionist was very helpful and I saw a nurse after just 8 minutes. However, I then just waited for someone from Gastro to see me. I lost track of time but I think that was around 11pm. The Gastro Consultant was very helpful and, as expected, I was scheduled for the camera test the next day. The bit that was not very good was that I spent the next 9 hours sitting on the chairs in a&e. it would have been easier and more reasonable to go home and come back because the seats in a&e are not designed for 9 hours after having already sat on them for 5 hours in Brighton and 4 hours in Haywards Heath. I had not eaten or drank all day and all the vending machines were either empty or broken. I know this is just what it is, and I know there are pressures in the system, but someone telling me what was going on would have been a help. The next morning, the day shift nurse found me somewhere more comfortable and gave me a blanket and some anti-sickness medicine. She was outstanding; personable, compassionate, professional and caring, and it was largely my interaction with her that prompted me to write this note. An hour or so later I went upstairs to endoscopy where, again, the level of care and empathy was outstanding. Everyone, from the porter, nursing staff, and consultant were just first rate. In conclusion, I think the disconnect between the 2 hospitals is a bit poor, especially when parts of the region are flooded. I was surprised that Emergency Ambulatory Care had a 6pm cut off when I think their only responsibility was going to be to let me wait in the department until I saw the Gastro team. I expected the congestion in a&e, what with the junior doctor action and all, but after seeing the Gastro consultant I did feel somewhat abandoned by the nursing team until the day shift arrived on Friday morning. The Gastro team were all exceptional. I hope this feedback (compliment) is helpful.

    My daughter who lives in Brighton she just came back from this hospital very disappointed and in pain. She went there with throat infection, fever and feeling sick and the triage nurse said it will be 12hours before the doctor will see her. And this happened at emergency hospital...I'm horrified and very worried now because where else to go?

    I broke my ankle about two weeks ago and wanted to leave a review for everyone at the Royal Sussex County Hospital who saw me and helped me. Firstly, from the day I went to Accident & Emergency, there individual staff/nurses who were amazing and kept me very reassured and comforted. Going through to my follow up appointment, the nurses and doctor were extremely helpful and jovial which made the nervousness of my appointments dissipate. Finally, the nurses in the Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit on Sunday 10th of December were particularly amazing. They took every approach to make me feel cared for, comforted and looked after. In particular two who looked after me (I won't name names) were so patient and wonderful to be around, even taking time out of their busy schedules to sit with me for five minute just to chat and get to know me. Thanks again, Royal Sussex County, you were great. Toby Ray.

    All staff were polite and attentive as well as extremely skilled as they treated my wife for concussion and shoulder injury. They coped immensely well in very trying circumstances: many needy patients and a crowded waiting room. All were a credit to the NHS and the hospital
