  1. Review titled Note of appreciation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Now,on the festive time of the year, with New Year round the corner, I would like to take the opportunity to say a big thanks to the whole Dialysis team from Preston hospital. I have dialysed at Preston unit for almost two years. During this time I have been treated with respect and given every assistance and advice necessary. In addition the nursing staff create a happy environment which makes the treatment more acceptable. Words cannot express how grateful I'm to all team members who looks after me during this year and with their professionalism provides me the best care and treatment that I can receive. Thank you to everyone. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I have had 2 visits to the department in swift succession, and all the staff have been wonderful, before the scan and during the scan. They are all very knowledgeable and take time to explain the processes, which really helps when the process is new to the patient. Thank you.

Whilst visiting outpatients the staff were absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have wished for a better experience or a more pleasant environment. One nurse took the time to make me a cup of tea which was very kind and extremely welcome. Thank you Lostock Suite for your care.

  5. Review titled Great staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My little one was in A&E Thursday evening and through the night and the staff are an absolute credit to the service. We all know how much the NHS is under pressure at the moment but you wouldn't have sensed it. The staff were so compassionate, thorough, collaborative and just an all round a joy to be around. The same goes for everybody on ward 8! Hopefully we won't have anymore visits but if the need arises, I have the first hand knowledge that I am in great hands. Well done all for running such a tight ship, especially in such trying times!

Visited xray this afternoon, my wife was a "walk in." She was worried about signing in but was received politely. Not too long to wait for her chest xray. Well before the 20 minutes listed on the board. Pleasant girls dealt with this worried 81 year-old with skill.

  7. Review titled Left waiting for over an hour without any explanation

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mark Wareing - Posted on 07 October 2023

I had an appointment today at 13.10 I arrived at 12.30pm for my appointment in good time. I quickly noticed lots of people going in before me which is fine so I decided after an hour wait from my appointment time booked to ask why I’ve not gone in and was told they couldn’t give me a time and were running late. I informed them they should have put the lateness on their whiteboard for people to see how late they were running. I couldn’t stay any longer and have had cancer so will no doubt have to wait ages to get in again I’m not happy

I work at a dialysis unit in Leeds & needed to arrange urgent dialysis for a patient who had gone to Blackpool on holiday, the Sister on the dialysis unit was helpful & accommodating & accepted my patient for dialysis which avoided him having to travel back to Leeds for dialysis

  9. Review titled Cancelled Appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023

My 5 year old child has been waiting for 4+ months to be seen, now the appointment got cancelled over the phone. I was told they would get in touch to rearrange as soon as possible, but they couldn’t even tell me to expect days or weeks or months or a year. I was wondering if our referral could be forward to another NHS provider, again no advice or information was given. I’ve grown to accept that even a young child has to wait ages for a specialist review in the NHS. However, I thought I still could expect to be at least informed about my options - I might have been wrong

  10. Review titled Waiting and more waiting

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 October 2023

I had a scheduled 15 min appointment that I had waited 6 months for. I waited approximately 25 minutes to be seen, the dr who saw me seemed stumped so sent me to another department. But I had to go to a&e to get to that department. I explained to the receptionist why I was there, and it wasn’t for a&e. I was told to sit in a&e and wait, an hour passed, I was called in to triage and the nurse was treating me as an a&e patient, I explained I was only here to see another unit, the surgical unit, she made a call, said I was right, then told me to sit in the waiting room again. Another 40 minutes passed then I was sent to another department. I explained when I got there why I was there, so the surgical team could have a quick look at my issue and make a plan for another day on some minor surgery. I was told the wait time to see anyone was up to 8 hours. I panicked as I only had childcare for a little while, my disabled father was waiting in the car park as we had to drive 1 hour to get there as we don’t live in Preston. I asked to rebook; they spoke to me like I was crazy for ‘self discharge’ but I tried over and over to explain that I only came in for a 15 minute appointment and I’d not been in the hospital over 4 hours. They told me to wait in the waiting room then someone will call me to rebook. I waiting another hour! I was hungry, thirsty and tired at this point and still no idea how I was going to be fixed up. They eventually agreed I could come in the week after but no guarantee on how long I’ll be waiting to be seen, and this won’t even be for the surgery, so I have to travel two hours both ways again to just have someone look at it. I felt so upset, so messed around. All the staff, nurses including seemed flustered, angry, rushed off their feet, agitated, tired, which of course made them snappy and rude, there wasn’t any care for the patients waiting, no checking we were ok or anything. I know this isn’t their fault, it’s the way the NHS is now. But there has to be a better way that working these people into the ground. As for my case, I wish that there was more communication and organisation to make sure I get seen by the correct person the first time.
