  2. Review titled Great bedside manner

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This morning my mother received a post operation debrief from one of the female doctors involved. As part of this she had to give us both good and bad news and it was not what we were hoping for. The way in which she delivered showed exemplary compassion and empathy along without absolute clarity and directness in answers where required. When you are going through a very difficult time having a doctor like this on the team makes all the difference to how the patients and family feel. In the afternoon the Consultant surgeon came to debrief my mother whilst my wife was there. Once again he also made her feel really good, less worried and made her and my wife laugh. This personal touch from both doctors is better than I have ever come across before and as well as the clear technical competence they have also shows they have bags of compassion - something I think makes all the difference in keeping patients in good mental health. My mother also states that the ward nurses have been nothing but lovely. Thank you for everything.

  3. Review titled Excellent treatment, efficient, most caring , kind

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended for review of procedure taken place at a different hospital. However lancs teaching hospitals cover when necessary. I was directed therfore to telephone then offered an appointment. I was provided with excellent communication, reassurance, most prompt treatment with x ray , consultation and treatment. The nurse was most kind, approachable and efficient. The doctor I felt most confident in his assessment of my infection and change of medication. He was so very skilled, efficient and kind, caring. If every doctor was same the NHS would be something to be extremely proud of. I'd like both the doctor and nurse to receive this compliment and would like to say thank you.

Brilliant docotrs. After being admitted with severe abdominal pain and a suspected appendicitis - consultants were great in calming me down and reassuring me. Thankfully no appendicitis and a great nursing team helped me throughout the 24 hours I was there. Even when they were busy, they were still positive and kept a smile.

  5. Review titled Well looked after

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Julie Worden - Posted on 02 June 2025

My husband was admitted to the accident and emergency (Royal Preston Hospital) department overnight with difficulty breathing. He was moved through to urgent care and then finally to same day emergency care department. We felt we were looked after by the staff in the department. They kept us informed as to what was happening. My husband received three nebulisers, a chest x-ray, urgent blood tests, peak flow monitoring and two ecgs. The sister in charge kept us informed about what was happening and the registrar was informative. He was reviewed by the consultant on call who explained everything about my husband's case and answered all our questions. We were given food and drinks whilst on the ward and really felt looked after and cared for although the department was very short staffed and extremely busy. My husband was discharged the same day to the Virtual Respiratory Ward. They rang twice on the day after discharge to make sure my husband was ok and to relate the plan of action. We were given telephone numbers for emergency and clear instructions by staff what to do if we needed help overnight. New medication was sent to our home address so that we didn't need to attend the hospital to collect it. My husband was contacted daily until his discharge on 01 June 2025. Again he was given clear instruction as to his follow up in the Asthma Clinic in due course and given contact numbers if we need assistance. Overall, the service has been the best we have received in a long time and has put our faith back into the medical profession. Thanks for the amazing care.

  6. Review titled Terminally ill and lost in corridors for >24 hours. Help

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by John S Pritchard - Posted on 19 May 2025

My aunt was admitted yesterday evening and has been 'parked' on a trolley in various corridors since. No active contact numbers for hospital available - all redirect to PALS which is closed until tomorrow! Message left on Colorectal Ward answering service (Mon, c 20.45). Please get back to me.

  7. Review titled Forgotten patient

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ben Hancock - Posted on 27 March 2025

Was told to attend at 12:30pm for a blood exam for our 5 year old daughter. We did so. Waited patiently and was told the results would be 2 hours. Passed on by the day care staff who said that PAU would take it from here. Spoke to the staff about when results would come and simply met with shrug of shoulder and told to wait. Was told this blood test and results was required weekly but no one seemed to know what was going on. Been here 7 hours and still just being told it’s not their problem with no ideas on when we will be seen. Most nurses are in the staff office and have been for 90 minutes.

  8. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Caroline Anne Totty - Posted on 10 March 2025

I arrived two hours late for my out patient appointment today, there had been a crash on the motorway and there was no way of getting there on time. The receptionist at the entrance was so helpful and called the neurosurgeon’s department for us. When they didn’t get back to her she escorted me down to the department and introduced me to the nurses. The consultant was happy to see me. I was so grateful. Thank you to everyone that helped us out today. Caroline

  9. Review titled You should be ashamed

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 18 year old brother has come into a and e department tonight (6th Feb) He's diabetic, his bloods are extremely high (27) and he can't stop being sick. He's on the verge of going into a diabetic coma, yet he's been told to take a seat and the wait time is 3 hours!!! Do you seriously expect him to go into a coma sat in the waiting room? He needs medication and fast! He is now being driven nearly an hour to our local hospital. You should be ashamed of yourself Absolutely disgraceful
