Review titled Poor care
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2024
I found my stay most disappointing and the standard of care on AMU quite atrocious there were patients looking after patients toilet floor covered in full bedpan and buzzers being ignored. No effort made to provide dignity A stay on lancaster suite at a later date was a much more pleasant experience

Review titled Diabolical parking situation
Rated 1 star out of 5

Have driven around all available parking areas for 50 minutes back and forth round and round . Absolutely no parking spaces available. Such a diabolical situation for this hospital. Dislike getting appointments here.

Review titled Great emergency care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nicola Passmore - Posted on 05 November 2023
Arrived at a&e@ about 7pm in a great deal of pain following a trip and bad dislocation of left shoulder, to find it absolutely heaving (4-5 hour wait). Triage nurse arranged an x-ray asap. This showed a nasty dislocation and I was taken to a cubicle. Shortly after I was moved to resus and very quickly seen by doctor who said he was going to give me some anaesthetic and pop my shoulder back in. I woke up shortly after, all done and never felt a thing. I would like to express my thanks to all those on duty on Saturday evening who looked after me so well. It was quick and efficient and I am extremely grateful for your care. The pressure you were working under was obvious, with large numbers still waiting to be seen, trolleys/wheelchairs in corridors and ambulances waiting outside. Thank you all and praise god for the health service.

Review titled Endoscopy Unit Experience
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Excellent on-the-day experience, staff and systems worked well to keep me relaxed and make the procedure better than expected. Pre-visit paperwork needs revising - some pages apparently not reviewed for years, and a typo in the fasting instructions made me question how thorough and up to date the department would be.

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My father was in the Acute Medical Assessment Unit 3 times between September and November. The staff on the ward were always happy to explain to the family what was going on and provided care to my father with patience and humility.

Review titled Waiting List - but how long?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023
My 5 year old child was put on a waiting list to get a first ever appointment just to assess his condition which would then require surgery. We’ve grown to accept that even young children have to wait ages to be seen by specialists, unless they are being seriously ill. However, I cannot accept the apparent lack of meaningful communication about waiting times. We received the letter following the well known “apology, expressing empathy, offering reassurance” template. Except for “we will contact you as soon as possible” is not reassuring at all, unless you tell if we should expect days, weeks, months or years. Nobody ever doubted the Nhs is working hard, but we need you to be transparent on what you can deliver, so that we could make the best decisions for our children. Should we just wait for the appointment, or go private, or go abroad for medical treatment? I won’t know unless you start to share how long your waiting lists are.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Roger M - Posted on 23 September 2023
Just want to say a big thank you to all that helped me there when I had a bad kidney stone infection. Everyone was brilliant but particular big thank you to the kind lady from Heysham who used to live in Grange over Sands. Overall 100% couldn't have asked for more

Having been admitted for a total left hip replacement on 05/08/2023 and discharged on 11/08/2023 I found the nursing care just fantastic, the hands on approach and bedside manor was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. So many thanks Indeed to all In Ward 33.

Review titled Awful!
Rated 3 stars out of 5

One of my family members came to A and E and it took them 9 hours to get her into a ward. They gave her 1 dose of pain relief within that time when she was in extreme pain and discomfort. Non of the nurses available helped as she asked a nurse for more anti sickness as she was throwing up a lot and they ignored her blatantly. I get that the nursed are all hard worked but it was a joke, expecially when we was there since 9 in the morning. Another incident was when my family member accessed the toilet and i asked a nurse to come help her politely, they said no and insisted they wasn’t going to come help. One lovely nurse came by and gave her the support she needed after 10 minutes of her waiting in the toilet by herself unattended. Id like to say thank you for that nurse and if i had a name i would disclose it as praise. I think the rest of it is an absolute joke and they didn’t take her infections she didn’t know about seriously.
