Review titled Excellent scanning department staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Penny Hornsey - Posted on 26 May 2023
I had to have a CT scan followed by an MRI I have severe scoliosis and I’m not able to sit for more than 10 minutes, stand or walk very far. The staff in the CT department put me in ahead of the queue as there was nowhere I could lie down. Then I went to the wrong MRI department, when I explained my situation they decided to do the scan there and put me on a trolley in a side room to wait. I have awful claustrophobia so had some sedation. The staff were so kind to me and took me in for the scan on the trolley. For the duration of the scan they constantly checked that I was feeling ok. I am very grateful to both departments for treating me with respect and kindness.

Review titled dermatology procedure
by Valclair - Posted on 31 May 2023
I had 2 x basal-cell carcinomas removed from my face. I cannot fault the reception, efficiency of sending appointments, the explanation of the procedure on the day and in advance in writing, personal and mental comfort during the procedure, discussion of aftercare. My only suggestion is that a strip of muslin or lightweight cotton be used to secure the hair away from the face before the application of the extensive micropore dressing. Micropore stuck to the hair is not a good idea because (a) the hair moves so the dressing is not so secure as if it was only stuck to the skin and (b) the micropore is reluctant to give up its "catch" of hair, causing a lot of unnecessary discomfort when the dressing is finally removed. If I had appreciated the problem in advance I would have taken a stretchy Alice band"with me, though this would be no use for the department to supply as probably not able to be disinfected [Very happy with 'Treatment']

Hello Valclair Thank you for getting in touch with us and leaving a review. We can only make changes to our practice if we know where we can make an improvement. I am glad you had everything explained and we are always happy to answer any questions before or after your appointment as we know it can be a very nervous time for patients and their family. Where a dressing is going to be affected by the hairline we try our best to not stick anything to the hair and sometimes suggest removing a little bit of hair to help. We usually suggest that when the time comes to remove your dressing then taking it off in the shower after getting it very wet will help. I'm sorry this information was not given to you and its now a little late. We have in the passed purchased hairbands/alice bands and slides to help with controlling hair but as you said these are a single patient only use and it can become costly. We will put our heads together at the next staff meeting and see if we can come up with a cost effective solution for securing hair especially when it comes to the dressing. I hope you are recovering well and thank you again for the feedback we appreciate it.

Review titled Thank you very much for making this an almost pleasant experience
by Aqua lady - Posted on 12 May 2023
I had a hysteroscopy today, the nurse and student nurse who called me in were super friendly, made me feel completely at ease. The student nurse took my BP and heart rate, the nurse talked me through the procedure what would happen and what could happen. Told I could feel some twinges and period-type pains, I would also have a local anaesthetic in the vainal area. I put on a gown with modesty gown for the back and walked to the room where I met the surgeon, again he talked me through it and then I sat in a chair with foot rests there were two other friendly nurses in the room too. Each one had their own job to do. The chair was raised and and tilted back I had a hot water bottle on my tummy a sheet place over my knees and my knees apart. I could have had gas and air but didn't need it. There were a few tweaks when the biopsy was taken and a very slight pain but that was it . Great care was taken of swabs etc to make sure nothing was left inside . All very professional and the nurses made it very easy and lighthearted, I applaud them. I felt fine after and went out for lunch. This evening I have a very slight period type pain, but nothing I can't handle . Altogether it was easy, not embarrassing at all and nothing to worry about at all. I could even see inside me on the screen. Thank you very much for making this an almost pleasant experience.

Dear Aqua lady Thank you for taking the time to post feedback about your hysteroscopy. I am always glad to hear that patients have found the team to be so friendly, and able to put people at ease. It is also always good to know that such care was taken with the procedure, including the pain relief available, and that the process was not at all embarrassing for you. Our team works hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable and informed as possible during any procedure, and they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with them. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and I hope that you have a positive outcome following your procedure.
