  1. Review titled Excellent service in Adult Day Surgery Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Williams - Posted on 03 May 2024

I brought my 86 year old father who lives with dementia in for planned abdominal surgery today and the service was outstanding. From the anaesthetist who careful explained his recommendations to the doctor who did the same with hers and the excellent nurses and health care assistants and ports the surgery went so smoothly. All staff treated Dad with utmost respect and care and minimised any confusion by ensuring the operation was first on the list to ensure he could get home as promptly and comfortably as possible. We are very appreciative.

  2. Review titled Fantastic colposcopy clinic

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Heidi - Posted on 30 April 2024

I had a colposcopy carried out today after my smear test result had abnormal cells. The women on reception were lovely, the waiting room was spacious and bright. I was greeted by a lovely female nurse who took me to the procedure room, where I met a friendly doctor and two other female nurses. They were all very friendly and informative, chatting to me during my procedure and ensuring I could see the screen. They warned of any discomfort and asked if I was managing OK, and provided me with the aftercare information aptly. Really positive experience for the slightly concerning circumstances.

  3. Review titled 12 week scan - Relatively poor experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 May 2024

You show up to your first scan excited, nervous and wanting to see your baby. You also would like the person seeing you to be welcoming and kind to make you feel comfortable throughout the process of seeing your baby for the first time. The lady who did my scan was actually quite rude and seemed disinterested and wasn’t very friendly. As she’s meeting with expectant mums/ parents all day, you would think that she would have wanted to provide a safe and welcoming space. I cannot imagine how she would have delivered the news if anything was wrong. She also moaned at me for running late. I did call and let them know I was running 5-10mins late due to absolutely nowhere to park either in the car park or on street. We had to park a short walk away from the hospital so that added a couple minutes on. I was within the 10 minutes I mentioned being late. She said that if I was late to my 20 week scan that they most likely wouldn’t do it and I wouldn’t be able to reschedule. I thought that was a bit strange and not very reassuring for a pregnant person who is now hearing she could miss out on seeing her baby at the 20 week scan. I apologised for being late and said that it was just something out of my control that day. If what she said was true about not being able to reschedule then it seems a bit harsh as sometimes, things can happen/ get in the way. If it’s not true, then she shouldn’t be scaring people into thinking that just to prove a point. (Just to add that during my last pregnancy, everyone was so lovely, every member of staff that I interacted with! Just not great this time)

  4. Review titled Adult day surgery unit

Rated 1 star out of 5

Came in for day surgery and was waiting for hours! Got told I was next in line to go down then that suddenly changed to being last! Had no understanding for my personal circumstances taken into account and believe I was put last just because I'd explained my need to be at top of the list due to circumstances beyond my control and needing it done earliest possible time. I explained this at my pre op too! I am so angry after not eating since 7am which was 9hrs of no food just to be told to I'm last!! And could be potentially postponed if not down by 5pm!

  5. Review titled Very poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

My wife was taken to A and E via ambulance for minor cardiac arrest from work, we reached the hospital at 6.30 pm and wasn't still seen by a doctor after 8 hours. Why is it called A and E if you have to wait for that may hours to see a doctor, and wait for any treatment. She was absolutely tiered and knackered. We should have stayed home and hope for the best for fate and luck even for a heart attack to be managed. We are both nurses by profession and this hurts us at both personal and emotional level, to understand what health services have become

  7. Review titled A heaving A&E but great treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Marilyn Wallman - Posted on 09 April 2024

My husband fell yesterday whilst playing walking football. He was knocked unconscious for a while so we had to go to A&E, on a Monday! There was a huge queue as the place was heaving. But I mentioned his age to the receptionist and he was triaged very quickly. We were there for nearly 8 hours, which wasn’t good but his examination was thorough- a shout out to the junior female doctor and her Senior doctor. All staff once we were called in were very good. However, A&E could be better organised. For an hour there was only one person on reception while another was training. I realise that training must be done but surely receiving patients must be a priority and especially on one of the busiest days? Additionally, there seemed to be no filtering of the more serious problems, unless you were brave enough to cheat the queue. I had to wait in line with my husband, who was shaking from shock, in a wheel chair whilst younger and more able patients queued before us. But a big thanks to all of people who saw him from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors you did a great job but please get a working party together to see if you can improve waiting times. There has to be a way, even if you are understaffed.

  8. Review titled Outstanding standard of care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Isaac - Posted on 12 April 2024

Came in, very anxious and fatigued, for an urgent appointment after a 111 call. Staff could not have been more patient and warm towards me, and the department was immaculate. Procedure itself was efficient and as comfortable as possible. Was made to feel at ease, all my questions were answered and came away feeling well looked after - and noticed. We really don't deserve these amazing people :)
