  1. Review titled Alder Ward - Acute Mental Health Ward

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was admitted to Alder Ward, The Priory, Cheadle Royal Hospital in the early hours of the morning via an NHS admission, so I was an inpatient for just over two days. Whilst my stay was only short, I was impressed with the staff, how friendly they were, attentive, and had great listening skills, especially some of the HCA’s I spoke to. One issue with Alder Ward was the stairs to the female bedrooms, but that fault lies with the bed manager for my own mental health trust who sent me there. And with respect to Alder Ward, they told them about the stairs, and did offer to move me to Maple Ward, but I declined the offer as I felt it would be more distressing. The ward is clean and tidy, welcoming, and it is clear there is a lot to do during the week to help patients with their recovery. I was not there long enough to experience this. I also noticed if patients wanted to go out, there was always someone free to take them, i.e., they didn’t have to wait ages to be escorted.
