  1. Review titled Made each day a little brighter for my mum

by Bromley cancer story - Posted on 15 June 2023

Mum passed away peacefully in front of family at home recently, after her 4-year ovarian cancer battle. She was under the care of some wonderful NHS teams. Her GP surgery for initial diagnosis and support and care throughout, the Guy's Cancer Centre team in SE1 for her cancer treatment care, with surgical care at St. Thomas's Hospital. She had over 22 sessions of chemotherapy and maintenance medications. In the 48 months of her care, we were very grateful for the NHS, as they provided the best care we possibly ask for. The GP helped her be referred to St. Christopher's Hospice for end-of-life care, and along with daily visits from the wonderful Bromley Healthcare team for injections, we helped manage her symptoms and to help her stay as active and mobile as we could. The day a sleek black wheelchair arrived she was very impressed and in turn, it led to a few memorable shopping trips to the local garden centre to stock up summer plants for the garden! Cancer is a nasty master indeed and she did feel very angry that it had robbed her of time with family and to do things in her beloved garden and sewing. She hated the way she was dying but had dignity and courage until the very end. As a family, we are in awe of all the wonderful and passionate people that came into Mum's life and made each day a little brighter for her.

  2. Review titled Amazing A&E Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Steel - Posted on 10 March 2023

I recently attended A&E at the Pruh for stomach pains and ended up staying there for a little under 24 hours. All the A&E staff were exceptional including the doctors, nurses, cleaners and all other medical assistants. They were professional, friendly, patient and hard working. Even though I was there for a considerable length of time it did not feel this due to the amazing staff. I also left confident that my issue had been identified and a treatment plan put in place that I felt would fully resolve my ailments. The staff in this department are a credit to the hospital and deserve all the praise that I can give.

I was sent for an urgent ultrasound scan and found the reception staff, the nurse and the doctor all incredibly kind, thorough and professional. They were prompt, efficient and understanding. A great credit to the health service. We are so lucky to have you all. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Pruh A&E reception refuse to pick up the phone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Peter Mould - Posted on 15 March 2023

Good Luck if your elderly parent gets admitted and you live far away. The receptionists at A&E will not pick up the phone when you're trying to find out your relatives whereabouts. As always with the Pruh there's no other provision to assist. My experience with this place ,the worst, without fail everytime. At least I can give them 5 stars for being consistently awful. I'm talking about 5 separate occasions over 10 hours for 30 minutes holding on each time. I've not seen anything about a Jumbo Jet crashing in Bromley if we are very busy the normal excuse is rolled out.

  5. Review titled Horrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by patricia garcia - Posted on 07 March 2023

Went in for a CT scan, felt treated like cattle. Poor privacy. Taken from one area to another and finally outdoors. No gowns, so I had to lower my trousers in the presence of the radiologist and be covered with a piece of paper. No feeling that they were dealing with a person who could be very sick. Very impersonal and indifferent. It will take 2 weeks to have the result

  6. Review titled Fantastic Gynaecology Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Have attended this hospital twice and have to leave a review to thank the team for their kindness and patient led approach. Female health issues can be very emotional especially when they can affect fertility and I have felt very supported. Thank you, you are all fantastic!

  7. Review titled Over 2 month wait for results

    by courageff76 - Posted on 16 February 2023

After having an echocardiogram following atrial fibrillation I was told that I would have my results in 3 weeks time. It has now been over 2 months and I have still not had my results. When I contacted the department, because I was referred by ambulatory A&E I was told I need to speak to the consultant there, however I can never get through. I am calling on an almost daily basis but it goes straight to voicemail and I never get a call back. So I am stuck in limbo. I don’t know if my condition is getting worse. I am currently experiencing atrial fibrillation and I think the stress of not knowing is making it worse, but when I speak to my GP they refer me back to the hospital, so am in a spiral of just not knowing which way to turn next.

  8. Review titled Long A and E waiting time

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Susan Martin - Posted on 23 February 2023

Was told by chelsfield park hospital to go to a and e immediately after blood results showed may have a blood clot. Got to Pru at 5.30pm and was seen at around 4am next morning. So many people there so few staff. One nurse among 60 people and 2 docs we were told. People on recliner chairs waiting for beds had been there 26 hours. People crying with frustration. Awful. Not the staffs fault at all.

  9. Review titled Baffling 2 week wait suspected cancer pathway

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 January 2023

I was referred to this service on the “2 week wait pathway” for suspected cancer. According to the NICE Guidelines, my GP was required to use this pathway "for an appointment within 2 weeks". However, not for the first time, this hospital did not properly read the referral letter. In particular, my GP went to the trouble of explaining in the referral letter why I was not suitable for a “direct to test" approach and requested a telephone appointment with the specialist. Instead of being offered an appointment with the specialist, I was telephoned by a triage nurse and unceremoniously discharged from the service. She insisted tests had to be done within the 2 weeks, which is not what the NICE Guidelines requires, and my GP had explained why this was not possible for me. She told me to ask my GP to re-refer me on the same pathway "when I was ready". How baffling that this hospital thinks that an urgent, 2 week wait referral can be put back indefinitely and what a waste of my GP's valuable time.

  10. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I brought my daughter in on Friday evening to urgent care as she had breathing difficulties as a result of a non-covid infection. She was triaged and seen by a doctor, thoroughly examined and given treatment all within the space of an hour. I can't thank the staff enough for such swift, professional and caring service.
