  1. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 June 2023

At our 20 week scan we were told we were having a girl, at a 35 week scan it was confirmed to actually be a boy. Then due to reduced moves had extra growth scans. Went for a 40 week growth scan the day before due date, arrived and was told my appointment had been cancelled 2 week’s previously but nobody had informed me of this, so waited for 20 minutes to be told this. On 3rd May went in as referred by midwife for pre-eclampsia, had bloods taken at 3pm, then was told they would take 2 hours to come back, doctor wanted us to wait at the hospital just incase. So we waited, it got to 6:30pm and we’d heard nothing, the Antenatal department had closed and nobody had told me that i had to go to the maternity triage. I then waited there for a further 2 hours, before asking reception why I wasn’t able to get my blood results back, was rudely told as needed a bed, even though my results had been waiting there now almost 3 hours at this point. Within 5 minutes I was called by a nurse, who didn’t take me into a room just down a hallway full of other patients (didn’t feel very professional or private) to be told nothing was wrong and that I could’ve gone home hours ago. The level of communication to patients within this department is absolutely shocking, to the point where I no longer plan on giving birth at this hospital because of how constantly let down I feel by the staff here. I really would not recommend the department to anyone else, and wish I had chosen a different hospital to begin with.

  2. Review titled Amazing midwife and labour experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beth - Posted on 13 June 2023

I recently gave birth (3/6/23) and had the loveliest experience with the staff - from triage to delivery to transitional care. They listened to my birth preferences and stood by them, linked me to a midwife suited to my preferences (hypnobirthing, movement during labour). My midwife stayed with me throughout my labour, helped my partner to effectively support me, helped me to use a peanut ball and labour in different positions, and created a calming environment through starry lights, music and my massage oil. She encouraged me to trust my body and helped me to breathe my baby out. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful experience I had, especially after being so worried to get induced via hormone drip. Thank you!

  3. Review titled Operation cancelled 3 times now

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Day before surgery my sons oral surgery has been cancelled for the 3rd time, his first scheduled surgery was in april. I am worried about his mental health now, he was so disappointed and upset for this to happen again, especially as being the day before. I understand the nhs doctors are striking for a reason, but the impact on peoples lives are huge. If this continues through the summer i don't know what further affects it will have on my son.

  4. Review titled Nice people

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently came for a MRI scan, my first. The nursing staff were welcoming, explained the procedure carefully and ensured I had no concerns. Everything went as it should have and I was soon on my way. Nice people doing a good job. What more can you ask? Thank you. Robin Church

  5. Review titled UTC has worked wonders again. Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The failings of my local GP has led me on both occasions, this year & last year, to visit these wonderful people. I suffered from tonsillitis to the point it became so blocked up I couldn't eat or talk properly. Doctors & 111 relied on my pharmacy to diagnose & have my records updated with recommendations. Obviously they could only suggest over the counter medicine to help me through it. Once it got so bad & I was getting little help, I visited the UTC. Within 2 hours I had steroids, antibiotics & a paracetamol drip in one setting after the other. Litterly, from the reception, triage nurses & all the other staff members I interacted with was brilliant in everyway again. Being helped is wonderful, but actually being listened to and heard is a great extra feeling.

Thank you so much for the fast, efficient, friendly, helpful staff at every step, from calling 111 to arriving for my appointment. I was in such pain but everyone was so kind and caring. I was seen and treated in half an hour end to end. It was a true testament to our wonderful NHS “boots on the ground “ Thank you.

Earlier this month, I was brought in with minor injuries following an attack. I couldn't have wished for better care & compassion, I really couldn't. The doctors, nurses, paramedics & beyond, all do such a fantastic job. I am.currently recovering at home & just wanted to say a big thank you & that you are all amazing. Keep up the awesome work that you do, because dedpite all the negativity in this world, some of us are truly grateful for all that you do. Thank you. x

I recently came in for an angiogram which I was nervous about. The nursing staff were so reassuring and did their best to make me comfortable. I was very grateful.
