  2. Review titled Prompt, efficient and friendly care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited the UTC after an insect bite became infected while on holiday. I arrived just after 9pm and waited just under 10 mins, before being seen by a nurse. She was friendly, helpful and efficient and within 10 mins I had been checked over, given advice and received antibiotics. Couldn't have asked for a better service. Thank you very much.

  4. Review titled Great response to chest pain but limited in scope

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Living in rural Cumbria penrith 9 miles away, carlisle a and e 26 miles. With a recent history of heart attack previously identified in UTC , I attended with minor chest pains. I was promptly seen even though the reception wait was said to be 3 hours on arrival. Nursing and specialist nurse were brilliant caring and thorough. I could have gone to carlilse for troponin test to confirm or rule out the heart attack. All of this could have been done at penrith if they had a gadget to take blood, do the test and get the result as shown on the panorama program about nhs in York. . Then if all clear I could have gone home reassured and not gone to carlisle a and e . If not clear then it just saves a bit of time at carlisle a and e anyway. For me and many hundreds of other rural heart patients easier access to better testing with prompt results help us manage our discomfort at home and judge better when to visit a and e. Please forward this suggestion to penrith hospital clinical director or whoever else is relevant. It's brilliant staff but the equipment infrastructure on testing could be far better.

Dear patient Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback relating to your recent visit to the Urgent Treatment Centre at Penrith Hospital. I am sorry the equipment wasn't available, which like you say would have given you reassurance if you had the test. I will share this feedback with the senior management for the Urgent Treatment Centre. I am pleased to read you didn't have a long wait and the staff were caring and thorough. I hope you have recovered and you are feeling better. Take care Sylvia Patient Experience Manager

  7. Review titled Urgent antibiotic medicine

by Adopted Scot - Posted on 30 November 2022

Visiting Cumbria from Scotland for several days I developed a urinary infection and was advised by my own health centre to use the local facilities in Penrith. Considering my experience of the health services I was most pleasantly surprised by the quickness of the staff at Penrith Urgent Treatment Centre to take my details and have access to a local doctor. The whole process was conducted with efficiency and professionalism and I was prescribed an antibiotic. [Very happy with 'Appointments'] [Very happy with 'Doctor']

  8. Review titled Fast, friendly, professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I presented with possible heart symptoms - turned out to be nothing - and was seen immediately by two nurses who were friendly, efficient and very competent, helped me feel much less anxious. I was then very quickly with a doctor who was open, interested and very thorough. What a great team you have - hope never to have to visit again, but if I do, I know I'll be in good hands. My sincere thanks.

  9. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Vincent Rainardi - Posted on 16 July 2022

I was on holiday in the Lake District and had a red eye. Went to the Urgent Treatment Centre on 111's recommendation and was seen very quickly by the nurses. Went back the next day because it got worse and waited a bit, seen by nurses, then a GP who was very thorough. They referred me to the eye clinic in Carlisle on the same day. Was seen by an eye doctor there, given eye drops, and a few days later my red eye was normal again. Thank you so much for providing such an excellent health service and treating me well.
