  1. Review titled Lovely care and personal warmth all round

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by R Davis - Posted on 21 March 2024

I wouldn't have been motivated to review at all except for the excellence and loveliness of my experience. Never having been before, I left a lot of time and, despite so-so signage and difficulty finding the right department, got there 40 minutes before my appointment time and checked in. Everyone involved - receptionist, nurses, etc, were very personable and put me at my ease. The X-ray was conducted easily and without fuss and it was made clear how to position myself to do it in the best way possible. The consultation was lovely and clear, as well as friendly, and I was made to feel cared for and listened to. It was made clear when an extraction was not involved what care I need to do to avoid needing it in future and a danger with a remaining root of a tooth that fell out. I note that probably Northwick Park does not come top of every league table but compared with some experiences at the Royal Free which maybe does, it was much less crowded. The result is that, without feeling rushed at all, I actually left 10 minutes before my original appointment time. Sincerely, thank you very much to all involved, not least for averting my anxiety. Clear and prompt follow-up letter too.

  2. Review titled very upsetting and disappointed experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Child's mother - Posted on 14 March 2024

My son was due for his tonsillectomy surgery on 20th Feb and his pre assessment was done on 14th Feb,the lady I spoke on his pre assessment was very good and explained in detail about the pre and post surgery care.On his pre assessment he was having slight dry cough and due to that reason his surgery got postponed and I received an email saying that surgery date -to be confirm.. Now, on 22nd Feb at 9:53 am ,I received a call from the hospital saying to come on 10th March for his surgery in the Rainbow ward at 7:30 am..the lady on the phone asked about the pre asssement and said "it was passed and its written to re-book surgery in 2 weeks of time and she also mention that my son is already on a long wait and cannot wait further longer or otherwise we will refer back to gp".On hearing that I said okay I will come on monday 10th March for surgery. On the day of Surgery which was 10th March ,we as family went to the hospital with all the preparation. We prepared our son mentally for the surgery and also made sure he didn't had anything after 8 pm on 9th March but when we went to the hospital after waiting for an hour we came to know that the surgeons are not aware of any surgery on this day and we apologize for the inconvenience caused by us to you and was also told that you will receive a call from admissions team on Monday but till now i had not received any call from either the hospital or the admissions team. I tried calling the ENT department but there is no one to answer the call. After a long wait I had to disconnect the call by myself seeing nobody is bother to response. Now who is to be blame the management or the staff. Also, after receiving the call on 22nd Feb ,there were no further communication was done or sent to my email saying the confirmation of the surgery. Overall,it was my first experience in the hospital and I received this kind of service from the hospital which is totally not acceptable. I would request the management team to take action against this case and make sure this does not happen again in future with any of the patients.

We were visiting London from Stockton on Tees for a wedding when my husband suddenly took ill in the hotel and suffered a seizure. The response from the ambulance and staff in A&E was excellent, the care and attention he received was amazing, also the care from all the staff on Crick ward.Every member of staff we met porter, tea lady, nurses, doctors and ultrasound staff were so caring and attentive.Their professionalism in busy departments is credit to your hospital. My husband is back home now making a good recovery and awaiting appointments at our local hospital,

I’m so grateful for the care and compassion I was shown by every member of staff who helped me today. From my doctor to the anethatists, the nurses who took my bloods and those who took care of me when I woke up including a student nurse- I really appreciated it. You are all wonderful people! Thank you

  6. Review titled Excellent Radiology Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by RUTH S - Posted on 28 February 2024

I was taken to Northwick Park Radiology Department for a CT Guided Aspiration procedure. The nursing staff were caring and compassionate and made sure I was comfortable. The Senior Consultant Radiologist was kind, patient and professional, with good humour as he explained everything throughout the procedure which alleviated my fears. He worked tirelessly to resolve the extreme pain I had been experiencing while an inpatient at St Marks and was taken to Northwick Park at the earliest possible time. Thank you for resolving my pain and the care taken in ensuring the excellent outcome to help in my recovery.

I was here last night for an mri scan as i have problems with my head. I was seen very quickly and felt that i was in a safe environment and treated with expertism from staff. The hospital makes me feel that this could be a real hospital with provision and support for the future.

  9. Review titled Awful Hospital

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Bena - Posted on 29 January 2024

Wrong medication was given. Wrong medication prescribed. Patient was not given enough care. Wanted patient out of the hospital as they had written him off. When I went to see my brother I could see he was not comfortable at all, when I mentioned this fact I was told that is how he has to be. Another nurse comes along and she said to me he does not look comfortable at all. When asked the ward receptionist if I can speak to someone about my brother wanted to know why so told her does not look well. I was told you he is not well. I told her he would not be in this dump if he was not ill. When you wanted him out of this hospital we were told as a family we did not want to take him home. He was on a drip twice weekly for 18hrs a day. When this was mentioned they did not know he was on a drip. On the day off the discharge it took them three and half hours to get his medication ready. They all knew he was being discharged for 4 days. Thank goodness he is out of this hospital.

  10. Review titled Where is the registrar?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Berg - Posted on 05 January 2024

I spoke with a doctor the previous day who explained I must speak with the registrar regarding my father's case. That I should come early. So today I made arrangements with my client, left early to arrive at the ward early. More than two hours and two calls from the nurses station and still no registrar. I am still waiting as I write. Poor service

Dear Service User, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm sorry to read that you have been unable to speak to a registrar. As you can imagine our hospitals are under large amounts of pressure this time of year along with industrial action strikes. Although there may be a delay in the registrar speaking with you regarding your Fathers case I do hope he is still receiving the best of care and you have now been spoken to. If this is not the case as I can see no other information please can I ask you contact our PALS team? They will be able to assist you with the correct people to talk with and how to move forward. Their contact details are - Ealing 020 8967 5653 If you’d like to speak to someone, our PALS office is on the ground level, near the lifts. Northwick Park and St Marks 020 8869 5118 If you’d like to speak to someone, our PALS office is close to the main entrance of Northwick Park Hospital.
