I went to Cramlington Hospital A & E early sun morning, I was in a fair bit of pain. The staff were very kind & helpful getting me painkillers straight away & although they were busy, they treated me with the upmost care & dedication. I was given more painkillers later on & tablets to take home. The pain is easing now. Thank you to all the staff who were there on Sunday 8th June

  2. Review titled Amazing and efficient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ashley Thomas - Posted on 06 May 2025

I attended the emergency department in 3/5/25, with significant burns to three limbs after a sauna tent log burner fell on me, when the tent blew over. My sister took me and I was in significant pain. The whole team were excellent! * the receptionist booked me in very quickly and past me straight on to the triage nurse. * the triage nurse assessed the situation and quickly got me seen. * the unit sisterwas very experienced and calm. She got me pain relief immediately and got me into a cool shower asap, to cool the burns and stop them becoming worse. Wrapped me in cling film The Dr also assessed me very quickly and referred me to the RVI plastics team. I was very impressed as the department looked busy, however they were all very calm and caring and efficient. I was very scared and in pain, I feel they worked together well to give me excellent care. Thank you so much!

  3. Review titled Exceptional service and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Last Friday I had to take my son to A & E with an acute abdominal swelling and severe pain. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he received in A & E and the acute Medical Ward, where he spent the night before being transferred to Urology. He was triaged within 15 minutes, admitted and seen by a doctor within 30 minutes, and had been given antibiotics, pain relief and had a CT scan within a couple of hours. Every staff member we with whom we dealt was kind, empathetic and professional. Given the challenges under which the NHS is labouring, the service was exemplary and could not be faulted. We are extremely grateful for the care and kindness received from everyone. You are a shining example of what the NHS can be. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred by my GP for a possible TIA event, and was seen at Cramlington on 3/4/25. Every aspect of my experience was faultless: the telephone booking, the "meet and greet" assistance, the pre- examination tests [BP, blood sample, ECG etc] all were done speedily and thoroughly. The initial examination by the doctor was extremely thorough, and concluded with the need for a further MRI scan. The doctor explained that if I could spare the time, she would try to have that done the same day, then assess the result to save a return visit. This was arranged in c. 1 hour, and again the MRI process was most speedy and thorough. The final assessment likewise, including the handing to me a copy of the report sent to my GP, which was unexpected but incredibly efficient and welcome. In summary, everyone involved in my visit handled my treatment in the most thorough, professional, and courteous way possible. I think my experience also vindicates the "one stop shop" approach of the Cramlington operation. I tried to thank as many of the staff involved as I could at the the time, but would be grateful if you could repeat this to all involved. They were all a credit to your operation, and their professions.

  5. Review titled Fantastic service

I brought my son in to children's A&E and couldn't fault the service at all. Thankfully it was nothing serious and I was able to take him home, but we had been triaged, seen by a doctor and on our way home in half an hour. The staff were all so friendly and engaging with my son. I hope I don't have to use the service again but know my children would be in safe hands.

  6. Review titled Wait of 1 hour and 10 minutes after appointment time.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2025

Gynae sppointment - and bear in mind time taken off work to attend an emergency appointment - 3pm. Quick check on bloods and blood pressure then over 1hour 10 minutes wait before called in by doctor turned up around 3.40pm, saw 2 others who arrived later. Staff messing around behind counter - over 6 of them for about 4 patients. No apology for lateness, no consideration of loss of work time. Seriously unacceptable service with no respect for people's time.

Was strongly advised to go straight to a&e on a Friday night after being seen by a paramedic in the house, got there and went through triage fairly quickly. I was then left there, unassigned to a member of staff for 9 hours before I discharged myself and went home.

Had the most incredible care from the two midwives that looked after me on the 10/02/2025. Along with the student midwives everybody that helped me birth my daughter were amazing. I couldn’t recommend this hospital more to any mothers. Everyday I think about how well looked after we were and I’m so grateful. Thank you so much xx

Can't thank the emergency teams enough for the excellent care they provided for my husband. The ambulance crew, A&E staff, and the surgeon were all outstanding and then aftercare in ward 15 was second to none. Well done to you all and thank you.
