  1. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Was sent to a & e by my doctor with a notification from him, no seats, people on intravenous drips in the waiting room, no staff available apart from over stretched nurses going round doing observations on people. 9 and half hours I spent there for a blood test, and I left with no information about anything at all. And when I went back to my doctors to speak to him the write was he had wasn't what was said to me, no x ray, but i did get a coffee and a sandwich which was much appreciated. I'd recommend no one goes there at all. All the lower staff are running round like headless chickens, all the doctors are sat behind a screen talking about whatever. Totally don't recommend going here. Couldn't even get my pain killers because the pharmacy was closed, and the prescription was only valid in the hospital, and to top it all off it cost me 8 quid to park there, I could have gone to the pharmacy at tesco, baught a meal deal some painkillers and had money left, and I'd get an afters. Not Impressed At All....

  2. Review titled Fantastic Staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Joe P - Posted on 13 May 2024

I visited the A&E and, by extension, the Same Day Emergency Care unit for symptoms of a suspected heart attack. The staff who treated me throughout my stay were terrific - friendly, approachable and filled with a sense if humour. I just really want them to know how much I appreciate the time and energy they put on me today. However, one small complaint that stops this being a perfect score is that I was told to wait in the room of "green chairs" after having my X-Ray. There were 3 rooms with green chairs and my stay was extended by two hours because I ended up in the wrong room with no one knowing where I was. However, this was only one small blip. Thank you all for your amazing service today.

My mother experienced a severe stroke while on holiday. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the departments involved in her care. The communication and support provided to my brother, who remained with my mother, was exceptional. Despite the difficult circumstances, the medical team treated my mother with dignity and respect, honoring all our requests as a family. Although I was unable to be present, I am grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown to my mother during her stay. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  5. Review titled Cardiology

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had an appointment with Cardiology to see a consultant on the 1st of May. I’ve waited a very long time for this. I received a call the Friday before saying don’t come in as the consultant will be phoning you from his clinic at 9.30am on the appointed day. I received no call. I tried contacting the department with the tel numbers listed in my letter. No reply as the phone just kept ringing out. I tried over ten times. I then left a message for his secretary. She hasn’t got back to me. I eventually got through to outpatients and was told they didn’t know why this had happened but he was still in clinic and would ring me that afternoon. Again! No call. If I hadn’t bothered to turn up it would be classed as a did not turn up. But what happens when they don’t turn up? Or call? Or leave a message explaining? I’ve just been left in limbo. It’s absolutely appalling. I’ve heard some negative reviews about Lincoln County hospital but this just takes the biscuit.

  6. Review titled Pleasant experience!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Visited Branston Ward today and was there for a few hours for some treatment. The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t have made the experience anymore pleasant than they already did. The staff in A&E were also very welcoming and helpful and it made this entire trip to Lincoln Hospital a lot less scarier thanks to the amazing staff there :)

I was admitted to SEAU at Lincoln Hospital to have life saving abdominal surgery. I would like to thank everyone involved in my care from the operating theatre staff to the ward staff during my 5 day stay. The care was outstanding and extremely professional. Once again, thank you very much.

  8. Review titled Emergency referral nothing done

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Simon Trotter - Posted on 18 April 2024

My wife recently went to her optician who made an emergency referral to Lincoln ophthalmology. The optician said her condition needs seeing as a matter of urgency due to loss of vision in her left eye and a sudden pressure increase. Unfortunately 2weeks later there’s still no sign of an appointment and my wife’s vision is getting worse.

  9. Review titled Long wait-times, rude staff, poor facilities.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2024

I’ve visited the hospital 3 times over the last 12 months. The first two occasions, I was seen in UTC, and on one occasion I attended the A&E department. When attending the UTC, I waited for 9 hours, I was in significant pain and bleeding heavily due to (what I now know) was a ruptured ovarian cyst. During this time, I was offered no pain relief, despite being unable to move and crying in pain. I was given no reassurance or compassion from staff. I couldn’t even get a drink of water from the cooler as there were no cups available. I was seen after nine hours, and was told that there was nothing that could be done for me. When discussing my symptoms, I was told by a member of staff ‘I won’t be helping as I’m not trained to deal with vaginas’, this felt incredibly passive aggressive and insensitive. I left the department sobbing, having waited 9 hours in severe pain, to be given no answers or treatment. My partner was with me, and upon seeing me come out of the department so upset and still in pain, he waited around and asked to speak to the consultant that had seen me. He had to threaten a complaint, before we were taken seriously. I was then given two oral paracetamol tablets, and told to walk over to the maternity department for a scan. The consultant didn’t check to see if I’d had any paracetamol earlier on in the evening (I did), so the tablets were useless to me. I was made to walk down the road to the maternity department, despite the pain making it near-impossible to even move. I was offered no wheelchair or assistance. When we arrived at the maternity department, we had to find our own way around. There were no staff, the lights were off, and the place looked abandoned. We eventually found someone and were told again that we’d have to wait. We waited for an additional four hours to be seen, with no communication about what was happening. Upon being seen, I was once again dismissed. I was offered no pelvic scan, no pain relief, and given no indication of what was going on. I felt defeated and was still in severe pain. The following day, I lost a significant amount of blood, leading to a collapse and being unable to get up from the floor. I dealt with this alone as I was so put-off from revisiting the hospital. My second trip to the UTC was very similar. I acknowledge that there’s not always an easy fix for symptoms and complaints, but respect and compassion go a long-way. I felt unsafe and neglected as a patient, and felt that the staff (minus a few) were rude and abrasive. When visiting the A&E, my experience wasn’t much better. Myself, along with other patients, had to sit on the floor, due to a lack of seating. The communication from staff was poor, multiple other patients shared similar frustrations. One gentleman had been left standing/waiting for so long that he collapsed in front of everyone. The hospital itself and the treatment of patients is shocking, it’s very unnerving to have to rely on this service in times of need.

  10. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 March 2024

I came to this hospital for a Pelvic & Abdominal Ultrasound. The wait times for the procedure were excellent. The waiting room was comfortable, clean, tidy - the facilities were clean and good quality. The scan was carried out by an extremely experienced and thorough member of staff - the staff were friendly, understanding and polite, I felt I was in safe hands. My dignity maintained at all times. The procedure was completed promptly and I was seen in good time. The staff gave clear instructions when they needed me to do anything, they answered my questions and asked for my permission. I didn’t come away feeling distressed by the experience because I find investigations very difficult to cope with and sometimes they can be unpleasant especially not knowing what to expect and having had some bad experiences in the past. I’m really grateful for the care I received when attending this department and I can’t really fault the staff. The only thing I would say is that on the appointment letter I received, I was given incorrect instructions about preparation for my ultrasound and this caused anxiety, thankfully it all worked out but I just don’t want anyone else to have to come back on another occasion due to inadequate preparations. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hospital to undergo an ultrasound and reassuring friends or family. Thank you so much.
