  1. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bill (Charles) Kusiar - Posted on 25 April 2025

I underwent a partial knee replacement on April 24th,2025. Arriving at the Treatment Centre at 7 am as requested I was greeted by a smiling lady who checked my details efficiently and after a short wait in comfortable and relaxed surroundings I was escorted with other surgical patients into another suite for preliminary review by a very kind young nurse who thoroughly confirmed my history details and blood pressure. From there I went next door into another comfortable suite and changed into a surgical gown and met the Anaesthetist who quickly put me at my ease and was happy to accept my request for a general anaesthetic due to my irrational fear if spinal anaesthesia. After this I was seen by my Surgeon, a kindly man who advised he would be performing a ‘unicompartmental’ joint replacement but confirmed he would do a total joint replacement if he identified that it was needed during the early stage of the procedure. After a short wait I was taken to the anaesthesia suite where my Anaesthetist was waiting with his team and with the Surgeon in attendance everyone confirmed with military precision the knee being operated on and then, and pretty much painlessly I had a cannula inserted into the back of my hand and moments later, or so it seemed, I woke up in the recovery suite. I felt fine, I wasn’t disoriented or nauseous and was very soon wheeled to Ward 19. The Staff here were so kind and attentive and all seemed to have a great sense of humour. By now it was lunch time but I declined a main meal and had tea and biscuits instead. I was due for an overnight stay but in the early afternoon my Surgeon came to see and said he was happy for me to go home! He advised he would be seeing me in a few weeks and left me in the extremely capable hands of the Ward Staff who made sure all my bodily functions were intact and arranged my analgesic regime. I was visited by a Physio and an Occupational Therapist who showed me how to use crutches, confirmed I could use the toilet safely and left me for more attention from a very kindly group of Nurses who seemed to leave no detail unaccounted. Overall my care was simply brilliant. My Wife eventually arrived to pick me up and I was back home by 8.30 that night with a new knee in a day! My profound thanks go to the kind and caring nursing and surgical team at Leighton and I would without hesitation recommend Leighton Hospital if knee replacement surgery is required.

Visited the outpatients phlebotomy department today. As a needle-phobe I was very nervous. The team were so supportive and the wait time was minimal. Great support really makes a difference in these situations. Thank you so much!

  3. Review titled Caring & reassuring staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Myra Cope - Posted on 08 March 2025

I had a shoulder reversal replacement in Jan. 2025. Everything was thoroughly explained to me prior to my surgery. I was transferred to Ward 9 where the whole team were kind and caring. My stay was a short 24 hours but I found the whole experience faultless. A huge thank you to the surgeon, his team & staff in Ward 9.

  5. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Steve Smith - Posted on 29 November 2024

Attended Urology on an incredibly quick appointment. 5 days from GP visit. You can not fault that. Arrived nearly an hour early as I didn't want to miss the appointment. After checking in I asked where the cafe was and a member of staff took the time to walk me there as its a complex site. But everybody was so friendly. Reminds me of seventeen years ago when my wife went into labour while I was working away. I had a long drive to get to the maternity ward. The first thing a nursing assistant did was made me a cup of tea. Thats no part of her job description, but was much appreciated. I can not fault Leighton.

  7. Review titled Really supportive midwives!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mia Rogerson - Posted on 06 November 2024

My experience in the MLU was absolutely amazing. They made my whole labour and time there really comforting. I felt at ease, especially with this being my first baby. They were always there when I needed them and reassured me when needed. I can’t express enough, how thankful I am for the midwives that I had. Even to the point where the first midwife I had, had finished her night shift, but the next day she came back and come back to me and asked how my whole labour went. Everyone is so caring here, and I can’t fault anyone who was involved.

  8. Review titled A&E minors is awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 October 2024

Left without painkillers and nurses very rude if asked for updates on what’s going on when being left for 7 hours without anybody telling us anything, a lot of people very unwell in waiting room however staff couldn’t have cared less, signs everywhere about being kind to staff but that clearly doesn’t apply to the nurses who can speak to people very rudely, it should work both ways

Dear patient, Apologies for the inconvenience caused during the visit to ED. I appreciate the concern raised and we have discussed the issues in the ED huddle so this behaviour does not repeat in future. Discussed in ED huddles to assess the pain , provide pain relief if appropriate at triage and to re-assess . Staff also reminded to inform patients of the wait time as well as to inform what the patients are waiting for. Staff also reminded to be polite and professional at work. Sorry for the inconvenience caused during the visit to ED. Kind regards, Victoria Noronha Assistant Nurse Manager Emergency Department

  9. Review titled ENT Appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2024

The woman who answered my call when making an enquiry about an appointment date was quite rude, abrupt and overly defensive when I politely questioned a 2 month wait for an urgent referral. She compaired Leightons wait times to "other" hospitals, which is completely irrelevant to me. Where has the compassion and empathy gone from the medical profession??

  10. Review titled Outstanding service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chelsea - Posted on 14 January 2025

Have been an outpatient with the orthopaedics for nearly 2 years. Cannot explain what a great service I have received from the doctor specialising in feet. He is patient and understanding and put the needs of myself first and actually listened to the issues I was having and offered great solutions that made massive improvements to my life and future moving forward. He is kind and compassionate and all of the nurses are a credit to the NHS and the wellbeing of their patients. With the situation I was in it was likely if my GP hadn’t made the right recommendation I could of been fobbed off but with the time put in by the surgeon I am on the right path to living a better pain free life. Cannot thank him enough.
