Visited whilst travelling home from holiday, with suspected chest infection. Said only deal with injuries and try GP surgery next door. GP surgery said I had to register with a doctor where I was staying - but I was halfway between where I had been staying, having left earlier that morning, and home - so I either had to drive 50 miles back or over 150 home. No alternative offered.

On behalf of Wye Valley NHS Trust I wish to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your patient feedback. I can confirm that a suspected chest infection would normally be dealt with by a patient's GP. I am sorry that despite being directed to the GP service by the Trust you were unable to access treatment from them and that you were not offered any alternatives on this occasion to reflect your circumstances. It may be useful to notify the GP Surgery of this so they can look at the advice they give in the future should a similar circumstance occur. With all kindest regards. Hayley Hardwick, PALS Officer
