My daughter’s possibly broken ankle was triaged, X-ray , assessed and diagnosed in 30 mins. They were all so nice and competent and fast. An actual joy to meet from reception onwards. Well done guys!!!!

I approached the urgent care centre towards the end of the evening. I was able to inform them of what treatment was required and received no judgement from them at all. I checked I would be seen that evening or whether I should return in the morning (due to the time). I was assured I'd be seen that evening. The waiting room seemened 'busy', but most patients were accompanied by one or more people. I was triaged swiftly and the nurse took her time to check I would be able to receive the appropriate care within the time and staffing they had. When I was seen by the treatment nurse she was kind, professional and non-judgemental. She offered good advice and made me feel at ease throughout. I left having been treated with a clear idea of what steps I needed to take in my follow up care. Staff were clearly aware of safeguarding and took appropriate steps to put this in place. I am grateful for the time, care and genuine kindness of the staff in the urgent treatment centre. I would feel more than comfortable returning if the need arose. This hasn't always been my experience at other minor injuries etc. Thank you.

I accompanied my elderly father to his appointment. The gentleman on at the outpatient booking desk greeted us with a warm smile and was very helpful. The urology nurses were also very helpful. The consultant talked my father though his options and gave time for him to ask questions. My only criticism is that he didn’t introduce himself or tell us his job title.

Bought my 4 year old son in on Tuesday evening after speaking to 111. Was greeted by two super helpful and friendly gentlemen on reception. Was seen by a triage nurse within 5 minutes and then a doctor. (Although we were then transferred to Watford A and E.) I cannot fault the prompt, caring, friendly attention from all staff involved. Thank you

I would just like to highlight the outstanding service I had today at the Chest Clinic department. Each member of staff made you feel so welcomed. Honestly the best service iv received to date. Thank you!

I was greeted by two smiling members of staff at reception who gave me a beautiful welcome last Friday at the ‘X-ray reception desk’. The lady who took the X-ray of my knee was also very efficient and obliging. My treatment and visit were perfect and the three were a brilliant advert for the National Health Service. Well done!

The lady at reception this evening was warm and welcoming, it makes such a difference when you arrive unwell ( and by yourself). All the staff were marvellous, couldn't have asked for more! I was seen and treated within an hour, really good! Thank you

We arrived at HH urgent treatment centre and were very quickly seen by the triage nurse and then the doctor, as it was suspected my husband had suffered a stroke. Assessment very thorough and efficient, although we had to be referred immediately to Watford.

My doctor has asked me to have a series of blood tests & an x-ray. I am disabled, & wanted to check to see if and how I can access the appropriate area with my mobility scooter. The website says there is disabled parking,& that they have various departments at Hemel (both of wich I knew),but no mention of how anyone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter can access the departments necessary. [ I clicked on the x-ray department, but it did not have a link to any further information.] From past experience, I believe the access to the area I want is up steps, which anyone who needs a wheelchair or mobility scooter, cannot use. When asked about answering a brief questionnaire here, I said yes, but as I was seeking information before I went to the hospital, the first question was irrelevant, & system insisted I should make a choice. There was no suitable choice I could make- a "Not applicable" answer should have been included.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not aware that any department is inaccessible, but we may be able to review the provision of route information. Both the X-ray and phlebotomy departments at Hemel Hempstead and St Albans are accessible. There are steps if you enter from the back of St Albans (by Day Surgery), however, further along that corridor there is a lift. Please email westherts.pals@nhs.net the link to the questionnaire so the team can resolve this issue.

I was really impressed with the care received today. I was seen and evaluated incredibly quickly. All employees were amazing. I have been to quite a few appointments at Hemel and always received amazing care. Would definitely recommend this hospital. It was my first time visiting the Urgent Treatment Center and I'm really lucky to have this as my local one.
