  1. Review titled Absolutely amazing care at the Endoscopy Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by John F - Posted on 01 October 2022

I attended the Endoscopy Unit today for both a Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy. Every single step of my patient journey was incredibly well managed. The efficient and very helpful booking process was a great start and the preparatory materials sent to me were clear and well put together. On arrival, the Unit looked clean, professional and appeared to be very organised. I was greeted by a lovely welcoming staff member and then cared for by the most personable, caring and attentive nursing staff before, during and after my procedures. The Consultant was very personable and incredibly thorough, much more so than I have experienced with similar examinations at other Trusts. People living in Harrogate need to understand just how lucky they are to have such a wonderful service on their doorstep. Overall, an outstanding level of care and (even though it's a far from pleasant procedure to have to endure from a patient perspective) a delightful patient experience. Well done.

  2. Review titled Unpleasant experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Refered by 111 to Harrogate A and E. This is after attempts at finding a GP for a heightend issue. Which along with others also sent to A and E is a general theme. Seen by a male Doctor who's response was essentially what are you doing here. Without asking hes taking my blood pressure. In and out in 2 minutes, no investigation and very few questions. Didn't read the notes or understand the background. Total lack of respect, zero people skills and lack of empathy. I was then sent to GP out of hours. The over whelming feeling is we don't really want you here. If you're not able or willing to assist why send people in the 1st place. Why say ring us back if gets worse, if you treat people as if there a nuisance. We appreciate the system is broken. But this is not the fault of the patient. Part of the reason there is a backlog is due to people not been seen or treated properly in the first place or being passed round the houses. Getting hold of a GP is challenging and people are left weeks waiting for an appointment. Hence the reason things escalate.

  4. Review titled Caring Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Y Walsh - Posted on 03 November 2022

All nurses, the anaesthetist, surgeon and team plus those serving meals were kind and caring. Considering how overworked this hospital is generally, I applaud the attitude of all those that treated me. I think we should be proud of what they achieve under such a difficult workload. My thanks to all.

  5. Review titled Saddened

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Its sad when an old lady shouting for a nurse so she can go to the toilet is ignored. I was visiting someone else when she was shouting. I gave her her buzzer and pressed it for her. 3 times. 3 times 3 different nurses turned it off, said they would 'get someone' and none returned. The poor lady was mortified that she then wet the bed. The nurses were chit chatting at the desk.I know they are busy a lot of the time, but to sacrifice an old helpless lady's dignity when it comes to basic human needs is awful and sad.

  6. Review titled Caring and efficient staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred by my GP for an emergency appointment after suffering from blurred vision for several days. 2 hours after contacting my GP I was called by the Opthalmology department offering me an appointment 1 hour later. I was seen really quickly and treated within 2 hours of arriving. All of the staff were very friendly, caring and professional, making sure I was ok and explaining what would happen next. Our NHS is amazing, thank you!

  7. Review titled Terrible-sent out of hospital for lack of beds

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 October 2022

5 weeks of asking gp and hdft for support with pain, ultrasound identified Gall stones but Consultant said I needed a ct scan for the suspected Hernia. Sent home with pain relief and told to expect a long wait. Two days in Same Day Emergency care where I was given oramorph as they recognised the pain I am in but no beds for admission. I'm left in pain for the 5th week.

  9. Review titled Caring Team in A&E

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 August 2022

My elderly mother fell and broke her hip and she ended up in A&E for assessment. Although her stay in the department was a long one before moving to a ward (10 hrs), it was clear to see just how busy and stretched all the staff and departments were, yet the nursing staff, radiology team, doctors and reception staff were all so kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Mum also has Alzheimer’s and the staff were very caring and compassionate. Thank you.
