  1. Review titled Very professional treatment in accident and emergency

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 August 2023

My mother had a nasty fall and was taken to the accident and emergency department. She was seen straight away, treated very kindly, professionally, and thoroughly examined, and the whole experience reinforced one's faith in the NHS, the practitioners who work in it, and its value as an organisation. A huge thank you to all concerned.

Absolutely amazing team on Nidderdale ward from the matron, manager, nurses, HCA's to the domestic staff. An absolute fantastic demonstration of teamwork, safe practice and amazing demonstration of care, you should be amazingly proud.

  3. Review titled Confusing visit at first.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Having been given the choice of Harrogate or Leeds for a colonoscopy, I chose Harrogate as they had an earlier appointment. When I arrived I found the signage very confusing. Everything seemed to be number and letter form. This is ok if you are used to how they operate. Being new to the hospital and trying to navigate I found this very stressful. I asked at the reception for directions in order to get to the department I required. Told use to lift. Once on the first floor turn left and go to the end of the corridor department is there Followed the instructions only to find I had passed the department by a good 30 metres. I then asked in a department to be told it was the next department back. Was looking for the colonoscopy, only to find they labeled it endoscopy. Confusing if you don't know. Now stressed out thinking I was lost. Having said all this. Once in the right department, the staff were really great. Explained all the process in great detail. Every understanding with all my questions about a process that was new to me. Once I had had the colonoscopy the staff again were great. I was told I would receive a call the next day to see how I was. Next day got a call. Very disappointed as the call was automated,(AI). The automated call got my name wrong. This gave me options, press 1 for 2 for. As part of the information was wrong I pressed 2. This then cut me off saying sorry for the intrusion. Not able to give feed back for my experience. Shockingly poor customer service. The people who run this service for Harrogate hospital fund need to have a serious look at their role. Most hospital services are on a personal level. That should be the same for follow up services. So the personal service is second to none. As for the upper management after service I would rate as 0 out of 10.

  4. Review titled Brilliant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wish to leave a review for the CCU bay on Bolton Ward and the Cardiology/ Pacemaker departments, I was admitted as an emergency late afternoon from A&E on Monday 12/6/23 suffering from breathlessness . The care I received in this unit was fantastic, everything explained to me as events took place.from , the machinery I was hooked up to, to the procedure that would help me. The consultant, saw me on Tuesday morning and explained I needed a pacemaker which he would insert on Wednesday morning. I was then visited by the pacemaker team, shown the device and the procedure explained. Following the procedure I immediately felt the benefit. I was discharged on Thursday. What a brilliant team and result for me!!

  5. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ken - Posted on 23 June 2023

I wish to leave a review for both A&E and the Emergency Day Care Centre. I arrived at A&E 7.30am 12/6/23 breathless and following a speedy triage I was quickly seen by the medical team. I was monitored and my bloods taken before I was diagnosed and transferred to the coronary care unit. ( My review for here under a different service) . I cannot praise the care, the professionalism and all the staff too highly. They were all brilliant. Unfortunately I had to make another visit to A&E on 22/6/23 as my left arm was swollen and I wondered if it was connected with the pacemaker I’d had inserted 14/6/23. Again A&E were brilliant. I even was taken to see the surgeon who had done the pacemaker procedure. All necessary tests were given , the care excellent and I went home with overnight medication and an appointment at The Same Day Emergency Care Centre for today . This centre too gives great care and explains in a quieter environment what is happening to the patient. Harrogate is so lucky to have such caring professional staff who care for their patients and I thank all of them.

  6. Review titled Front Desk

Rated 3 stars out of 5

The two front desk women were incredibly rude. Upon arrival the First Lady (volunteer) Was extremely vociferous. When leaving the woman behind the front desk made zero eye contact with either of us when she was asked if we needed a ticket. She spoke as if indignant due to being asked a question. Perhaps personnel need to retrain these ladies. It was genuinely an unpleasant experience. I’d like to add the 3 other staff we encountered that day were wonderful.

  7. Review titled Amazing maternity unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023

This is an amazing maternity unit staffed by a great team who for both of my children ensured a safe delivery where I felt listened to and supported. The only thing I would say is that post-pandemic, there is more of a 'musical chairs' quality about getting assigned to a midwife and obstetrician - you seldom see the same person twice. However, the individuals themselves represent the best of the NHS.

  8. Review titled Slow, Unsympathetic and Unfriendly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2023

I came to A&E with a close relative. We arrived at c. midnight (they came in an ambulance, I followed by car). They seemed to prioritise patients who were noisy, drunk or demanded attention. We weren't any of those. The ambulance crew were told off when they brought my relative in. I was told off by the same member of staff for laying down on the seats at 2.30am, exhausted and needing to sleep (a snappy, angry member of staff). Very slow service. No need for rudeness from the staff. Don't take it out on others if you're having a tough shift.

  10. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2023

There was a general feeling of disorganisation, starting with the inability to find any parking on site, total lack of signage to the appropriate department, and general impression that there were a lot of staff not really knowing or very interested in what they were doing. I would say that the procedure I went in for was carried out adequately, but that is the best I can say. I had a follow up phone call the following day, which I had to ask the person to call me back as I had an urgent occurrence during the call. They did not call me back. General impression is of poor overall management. Core of permanent staff trying to manage a lot of contract staff, and not really succeeding. Majority just going through the motions (no pun intended).
