  1. Review titled Exceptional care from amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hilary Worboys - Posted on 08 August 2024

I was admitted to Good Hope several times at the end of 2023 and early 2024, resulting in major surgery. The care and attention received from everyone was first class. I was looked after extremely well despite very overworked and busy staff. From the receptionist at the day care admission, the surgeon and his team, the anethetic team and the staff on the gynecology ward were faultless. Thank you all.

Our daughter was taken by ambulance to A and E following a seizure. She was upset and not easy to examine but all staff were kind and patient with her. They looked after us all really well in what was a very scary experience.

  3. Review titled Amazing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karuna Pendleton - Posted on 15 February 2024

I had my son by c-section on the 31.01.24 and the whole team on floor 1 who delivered my baby, from the surgeon, to the anesthetist the midwife and everyone else there that day were amazing. I was so nervous and they put me at ease and made me feel reassured, I knew I was in safe hands. Thank you to all the team that helped deliver baby Henry safely, words cannot describe how grateful I am. The after care on the Labour ward (ward 5) is second to none. The midwifes and all the staff there have hearts of gold. I have great admiration for each and every one of you. The level of care and support you gave me was so valuable. I felt at my most vulnerable after having major surgery and looking after a newborn at the same time. But you all never judged me, you all looked after me and you went above and beyond in terms of the care you showed me. From emptying my catheter to words of understanding, support and compassion. No job was too big or too small, and always with a smile. Thank you so much, you are an amazing bunch of people. In the lead up to the birth, we had to have a lot of checks and scans which took place on MAC floor 4. Again all the sonographers and midwives we encountered during our pregnancy there were always so lovely.

Dear Karuna Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback about Good Hope Hospital Birmingham - apologies for the delayed response but there was an issue with the website that prevented us replying. We are really pleased to hear that the care and support provided by the team who delivered your baby by C-section and then on Ward 5 were so good. We'd be interested in hearing about this in more detail and potentially gathering a patient story to use in staff training and other meetings as an example of best practice, if this is something you're interested in please contact patientexperience@uhb.nhs.uk and we can arrange to discuss further. I want to thank the wonderful team who looked after me so well at my recent appointment at the Breast clinic. I was very anxious and they were all extremely kind and caring. The treatment was very efficient, from initial discussion, examination to scan to treatment and then follow up discussion with the consultant, all within 1 hour. I really appreciate their support and treatment. Please pass on my thanks and best wishes.

Amazing!! In December and January I had to visit Same Day Emergency Care. The staff were calm, compassionate, caring and thoughtful. Although they were very busy and waiting times were long, they were wonderful! I felt reassured and confident in their care.

  7. Review titled Lovely staff on ward 7

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Charlotte Lee - Posted on 18 January 2024

I spent about 5 days on ward 7 recently and the staff couldn’t do enough for me there. It’s a shame you can’t mention names on these reviews because there were 2 staff members in particular who made my stay there so much more pleasant. One was in training and I just know they’re going to be a fantastic nurse. But overall every staff member was great, and I really appreciated all their help and kindness. Thanks so much ward 7

  8. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elena Pattern - Posted on 30 January 2024

After phoning 111, I was advised to attend Good Hope Accident & Emergency. Appreciated the hard work being done in Accident & Emergency and thanks to the gut instinct of one doctor in particular, I was admitted. On ward 28 I was in the safe care of an excellent consultant, brilliant doctors, lovely caring nursing staff and much appreciated auxiliary staff. Particular thanks to the microbiology team whom tracked the source of my infection. I left the hospital on 7th January, after 11 days feeling a new woman. Shame I cannot name those guys I would like to thank especially. Most grateful for the care I received.

  9. Review titled Kind and caring staff

    by Poppy777 - Posted on 04 January 2024

I recently attended as a day patient to endoscopy department for a colonoscopy. Right from Reception everyone was very kind and caring. The nurse who booked me in and gave me the change of clothes I needed and put the cannula in was very kind and understanding and put me at ease as I was very nervous. When they came to get me to go in for the colonoscopy the two nurses were really lovely and kind and reassured me I would be fine. During the colonoscopy the nurses continued to reassure me, giving me encouragement to not be scared, they were comforting and gave me their hand to hold, never leaving my side. I could not have done it without them. The Consultant was just as kind and caring. The staff in recovery were exactly the same, kind and caring. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of those involved, and advise anyone who has to go for a colonoscopy here to rest assured you will be very well looked after.

  10. Review titled where does the buck stop

Rated 1 star out of 5

by SANDRA - Posted on 13 December 2023

Everyone is aware the nhs is overwhelmed. no question. The admin of this hosp defies belief. After 2 visits to a&e with suspected heart attack.Spent 10 hrs first visit, after 2nd visit was told i would be down for scan. After that visit i rang the dept next day spoke with junior dr. I expressly told him i would be away from and to dates, would he ensure my appt. did not come thru on those dates.Gave me his assurance they would not but guess what.Recd voicemail week after, appt in post. 7 phonecalls later to find out the date before letter arrives, taken up two mornings virtually being round and round wrong depts. Appt. is when Im away!!!! surprise!!does anyone listen???..Ive never known such incompetence in my life. Yes theyre busy, get it. But the total lack of any symmetry between depts. Being given totally wrong phone numbers for my enquiry, no one having the correct information. I have to say that Good hope is known locally here as no hope hospital a well deserved reputation. This is not my first experience of incompetence and total lack of coordination between depts, Let face it, our nhs is in trouble this has been the situation here at this hospital since it opened. I have absolutely no confidence in the admin of this place whatsoever. The manager of this place wants sacking. the buck has to stop at his or her door. The rot starts at the top.
