Recent stay on Gara Ward for hip replacement. Absolutely amazing care . Such kind companionate staff from everyone I encountered. Always felt at ease and confident in everyone. Way beyond anything I have experienced elsewhere. Well done the team . Brilliant.

  2. Review titled Phlebotomy Flawed Ticket System

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Duane Allmark - Posted on 26 May 2023

My wife was told to by her specialist to get some bloods taken for her thyroid at the walk in phlebotomy before a certain date. Upon arrival at the Friarage there was no indication from signage as to where we should go, the paperwork indicated the diabetic clinic but no signs for that either. No reception staff but we spoke to someone who told us there are 3 areas you can get bloods taken and recommended the outpatients as it's closer, it was a good guess as when we asked we were shown through to outpatients waiting area 2 and given a yellow ticket number and invited to sit until our number was called. The system they have in place is that yellow tickets are walk-ins and green tickets are clinic and have priority over yellow, we were sat in an area with about 3 people waiting one of whom had a green ticket and was called first, but then another person came in and was given a green ticket and gets called in next... And so it continued for over an hour. We were always the next in line for yellow but other people would come and get called in before us because they were given a green ticket. My wife spoke to someone about it and asked if we could book ahead next time but she was told no. They know it's a flawed system and realise, like us, people could be there a long time getting frustrated, anxious and angry at the wait time getting longer and longer. Not so good if you have to be back for the school run etc, and each person that's walks in heightens your anxiety levels. Thankfully the staff prioritised my wife for the next slot because we'd waited so long but they could have made us wait because of the flawed rules put in place. This system needs to change ASAP!

  4. Review titled Excellent patient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sandra Chappell - Posted on 06 April 2023

Took my 96 year old mum to urgent care on 05/04/2023 with a broken ankle. Although staff shortages meant a long wait of 6 hours in total, every single member of staff treated my mum with care & compassion, kept her informed & maintained her dignity throughout. We were even treated to a welcome cup of tea, despite the department being extremely busy, and staff working long beyond the end of their shift. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Ridiculous wait time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Charlotte Croser - Posted on 08 April 2023

Visited the ‘urgent’ treatment centre today with my 4 month old to be left 3 hours before being triaged and then another hour until she was seen by a doctor. Absolutely shocking amount of time to leave a 4 month old baby, I informed them that I had only brought one bottle with me, one of the nurses went looking for some milk for me but never came back. I couldn’t fault the doctor we saw he was brilliant but that is the only good thing I can say about this department. People who came in after my daughter were being seen first, which is wrong.

  6. Review titled Poor people skills

Rated 1 star out of 5

I visited the utc due to requiring assistance, the nurse practitioner was rude throughout the visit, I was made to feel I was an inconvenience in her day. Poor professionalism and bad attitude which is upsetting given every other member of staff was very nice and welcoming.

  8. Review titled Disgusted

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 December 2022

Doctor didn't even introduce himself, requested examination then told me I'd been referred to wrong place, (didn't explain the point of the exam then) barked instructions, no bedside manner, made me feel like a piece of meat and everything was my fault I couldn't wait to get out. Now have to go back to my GP and start again. Was almost in tears before I left. Choose somewhere else.
