  1. Review titled Phone call.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 April 2023

Today 05/04/2023 I’ve called the hospital more specifically the dermatology department due to not being able to attend my appointment- I had been trying to call for a good amount of time prior with no luck as the line was constantly engaged, which I understand it’s busy. What I don’t understand is the disgusting attitude from the women on the end of the phone when I eventually got through, who felt the need to state the time to me as though I was stupid or as though I’d purposely left it. I hadn’t. Whilst I know these services are busy and have a lot on I don’t find that to be any excuse and really think people ought to think about how they speak to patients. You have no idea what’s going on in a persons life and what the impact of your negative attitude could do to a person. All I ask is that in future you think and do better.

  2. Review titled Unbelievably rude and inattentive staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Brandon - Posted on 02 April 2023

I arrived for a scheduled blood test on time, and neither of the electronic registration stations were responding when trying to sign in. I looked around for a member of staff but one was not present. I wanted to wait for a worker who was doing the blood tests to come out so that I could grab their attention, however the waiting room was empty so no one would be called. There was no reception for phlebotomy, so I headed to the main reception after five or so minutes of not being able to find anyone. No one was at main reception either, possibly due to it being a quiet Sunday afternoon, so I headed back to phlebotomy. I finally caught the attention of a worker, and after explaining that their machines weren't working they very rudely told me to hand my form as if that wasn't what I had been trying to do for the past 15 minutes. I took a seat in the empty waiting room and eventually another worker appeared to tell me that they would not do the test as I was more than 20 minutes late for my appointment. At this exact moment it has just passed 20 minutes since my scheduled appointment, and I knew that I had given the other worker my form well within 20 minutes of my appointment time, so they had clearly waited to check me in such that they wouldn't have to do the test. This worker was even ruder than the first, and stated that they were very busy (to an empty waiting room), there was nothing they could do, and that I had somehow wasted *their* time for going out of my way to try and find someone actually working who wanted to make it possible for me to sign in on time. I can't believe how I was spoken to and how absolutely no consideration was taken into account. I don't know what anyone was expecting me to have done in the situation to make my appointment. There will absolutely be evidence available that I a) attempted to sign in using the machine within 20 minutes of my appointment time and also b) physically gave a worker my form within 20 minutes of my appointment time. I then had the pleasure of paying £2.40 for exactly 30 minutes of parking, and the next blood test I would be able to book was over 2 weeks later.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sarah Lee - Posted on 13 February 2023

The phlebotomy service is no longer able to do walk in blood test apparently, even thou it states it does on their website. Upon further investigation they must provide this service for accessibility customers but according to them they don't.

  6. Review titled The most amazing experience for end of life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Clare Goulding - Posted on 22 March 2023

From the moment we were there with my mother in law, we were made to feel so welcome. Was shown around and where everything was. From the family room which has amazing facilities, to the garden and even the rooms, everything made you feel like you was at home. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, for a chat, for a cuppa or even just for reassurance they were there. We was only their 2 days. But the experience we felt while there was amazing. Keep up the amazing work you do. More places are needed like this

  7. Review titled Really friendly staff all round, however!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael Casey - Posted on 01 February 2023

At e recent visit to the Dermatology department, I was seen by a different doctor than usual or what was on the appointment letter, I was initially fine with that, but it soon became apparent I was not being listened to, and was also being spoken whilst trying to explain what I wanted to say regards to the liaisons on my skin, then before i knew it the good Doctor offered me two options, the first was a procedure on the day I was there, (which I would have preferred) or cream that would be sent through the post, but before I could make a decision, I was given a pre typed note explaining the application of said cream, I don't know how I was no apply cream to an area of my skin that I could not see even with a mirror, The Doctor did say my wife could do it, but she is in a wheelchair and in a far worse condition than myself. I would like to say that before this appointment I was (and still am) very happy with the Florence Nightingale and every member of staff. and I feel this was a one-off situation!

  8. Review titled Great hospital experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2022

I was warmly greeted by reception staff on arrival. My appointment started promptly with one of the doctors, who was friendly and professional. The doctor took time to listen to me and asked relevant questions that assisted him to make a diagnosis. He also told me what the next steps were likely to be, which was helpful. I came away feeling positive and relieved as I had been given answers to long standing questions I had. This is my first experience of visiting The Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and I can't rate it highly enough. The staff showed me care, understanding and made me feel that my reason for being there was important and that they wanted to help.

  9. Review titled Surprised!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by A. Darby - Posted on 03 July 2022

I came to have an eye test yesterday. I attend Rheumatology, and one of the drugs I am on means I have to have my eyes checked. The drugs I am on also mean that I am 'Immune Supressed'. Therefore although wearing a face mask myself, I was extremely shocked and surprised to see that staff were not wearing them. When treating I.S. patients, surely it should go without saying that masks should be worn? I would be interested in your comments. Many thanks.
