I was sent to epsom Hospital to urgent care unit by 111 doctor because I had very bad back pain. I was told I had to be there before 6pm and I got there at round 5:30. It got to 7pm they told me they’re closing and I need to go to a&e. while other patience got to stay get seen. I had my 11 year with me. We had to wait til 2:30am without getting seen because my son was too tired by this time.i kept asking how long to go was told there only 1 doctor. Some of the staff were very rude I will never go back there again

  4. Review titled No point in using the ipad at reception

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Sue - Posted on 18 April 2024

Don't bother using the ipad at reception at a&e! Tells you to use it if you ate an adult, my son completed questionnaire then we were told to go to utc straight away. He had a leg injury and was on crutches. Signage appalling for this dept. Finally found a closes door with the sign utc over the top of it. Entered and signs said sit down. We waited and waited with staff just looking at us, no one approached us. Finally a nurse was passing and I asked her if we were in the right place for utc. She replied no and took us to the reception round the corner where we were informed that we had to go all the way back to a&e reception to book in then all the way back to utc!!!! Total carnage and unorganised. Prefer Kingston!

  5. Review titled Magnificent team work

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andy McCarthy - Posted on 23 April 2024

This morning I was taking my daughter to a clinic but I stumbled and fell very heavily in Epsom Hospital car park. The pain in my chest was intense and I had a few scrapes on my head, chest and knee so a passing ambulance soon had me into A&E - all of 150m away. The ambulance technicians were brilliant as were the team in A&E and I soon had an ECG, and some X-rays, which were all giving good results. I was released home about 3 hours after my fall and the pain is still severe despite strong medication, but the prognosis could have been so much worse. My thanks to everyone involved. The rules for leaving a review mean I cannot mention individual names, but I really hope those staff members get to see this comment because if it was one of my family members that sustained this injury I would be wanting this level of care for those I love most. Many thanks

  6. Review titled Amazing Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ann Piddington - Posted on 13 April 2024

I went into Epsom Hospital yesterday for Day Care surgery. Then transferred to Swift Ward. The care and professionalism was amazing in both departments. Such caring friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble in making my stay comfortable. It took away my nervousness straight away. I just had to give Epsom Hospital my thanks and give a review.

  7. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was very impressed with the urgent A@E dept I attended today for a scaphoid fracture. Wait time short 2 hours ( 5.40 pm till 7.40 pm )start to finish Had a lovely nurse practitioner who looked after me from start to finish She took utmost care of me and discussed and explained everything in detail The Radiographer too was really polite ( she xrayed me initially in the morning and was doing a late shift when I went again)True the bed bay was inundated with trolleys with patients I noted while waiting for X-ray But the nurses were all running around them so were the Drs. I am thankful for the service I received today and am proud of the NHS

  8. Review titled Night staff brilliant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 March 2024

We waited for 11 hours to get my husband's issue resolved, finally leaving at 3:30am. The night staff were wonderful. They work in an incredibly hard environment with no thanks & inadequate pay. Can't praise the team enough for the care they gave both my husband & myself.

  10. Review titled Wards and Agency Staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 February 2024

I was admitted to Epsom Hospital. A&e were helpful but the pain I had was getting worse. I had a couple of scans. It turned out I had Ulcerative Colitis. I was put on morphine long lasting and oramorph three times a day. I was taken up to a ward a day or 2 later. Virtually all the staff were agency. Sign off on the morphine could take 30 minutes to 3 hours. 2 nights I had some very unprofessional nurses that only cared about their phones and yanked my arm for a blood pressure test. I told them I had ripped my shoulder but it made difference. I couldn’t take much more. One nurse said not to press the button because they were getting the morphine and I should sit back and relax! One Sister had the right hump about being called for sign off as he had 3 wards to cover. Handovers showed that nurses did not know my case well from what was said. I was to ill to correct them. I was scared and didn’t want my partner to go home as I didn’t feel safe at all. Staff need to acknowledge that if someone is on high pain killers, they are in pain and can’t wait long for the next dose. During handover, at least say hello to the patient, while talking about them. I’m a person with feelings. Take time with patient, listen and ask which arm to use instead of just yanking me about. It would be good if Drs can explain why they are giving certain medicines or stopping some, so I knew what was going on. I wasn’t offered a wash.
