  1. Review titled Left in the dark about ACL surgery

by CheekyButt - Posted on 30 March 2023

In October 2021 I suffered a completely ruptured ACL and a torn meniscus playing rugby. I did not find out about my injury until January 2022 due to MRI scans being lost. After I found out, I attended back to back follow-up appointments, eventually had an appointment with the surgeon who would be operating on me (very nice guy), and had a pre-operation appointment in December 2022 where I was sent a pre-operation package to sign online, informing me of the reconstruction surgery I was going to undergo and the risks involved. This made me assume that surgery could be happening soon, as Central Middlesex Hospital would not send me that if I was not expected to be operated on in due time. From since my last appointment, I have not had any calls, letters, emails, or texts in regards to my reconstruction surgery. I fear that I may have been removed from the referrals list and I fear that I may never have surgery for my ACL.

  2. Review titled Polite, kind and helpful staff.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kiran - Posted on 29 March 2023

Everyone from reception desk to the nurses were really helpful, kind and nice, did not wait too long at all. The only downside was that the second part of assessment was over the phone on a separate appointment. Though I had my mobile with me, Wi-Fi dropped, so the phone did not ring or buzz. Once Wi-Fi picked up again, I missed two calls in the space of a few minutes. I am no tech expert, but I do feel this is why we should have more face to face meetings. I tried ringing the dept at least 10 times in one day, but no answer. Then I rang the help desk at the hospital, they transferred me, no response. Then I was given a direct number, and again no response after being told they arrange there own appointments, I rang and once again no response. My problem has existed for longer than 4/5 years, and I finally get to the moment where I can be fixed, and I feel the NHS has let me down, not the people who saw me and interacted with me, they were lovely. But the system the NHS has right from GP service all the way to the hospitals.

  3. Review titled Urgent treatment care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 January 2023

Today I went to urgent care in central Middlesex Hospital as advised by 111 for my 4 years old boy. He has very bad allergy all over body.I was waiting for 5 hours , when I went to reception to ask how long for my number, she said I don’t know. Later one nurse came out from doctor and said we have one doctor only and don’t know how long you have to wait for doctor but I already waited more than 5 years , I left urgent treatment care and said I came as per 111 doctor advised. I was really upset and insufficient services from Urgent care treatment. Extremely disappointed

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to read about your negative experience at Central Middlesex Urgent Treatment Centre. Although the service is located on the grounds of Central Middlesex Hospital, they are in fact run by a separate provider named Greenbook Healthcare. If you would like your experience to be looked into further, then please contact their team directly by email on: centralmiddlesex.utc@nhs.net Thank you and I do hope your boy is feeling better. 4. Review titled Excellent team

I attended for a hysteroscopy today and the staff were wonderful. The consultant explained the procedure clearly, with diagrams, and the nursing and care staff performed their duties in a friendly and supportive manner. As my sister passed away this week, I was quite emotional and I really appreciated their concern. I cannot rate them too highly.

The staff were all extremely professional and I felt at all times they were looking after me very well. The room I was in was very clean, warm and well equipped. The operation itself was a success and pain was minimal (less than I expected).

  7. Review titled Friendly staff and good explanation

    by crazy_patient4 - Posted on 27 October 2022

[Very happy with 'Waiting time'] The waiting time was negligible, pretty fast. [Very happy with 'Reception'] Reception was quite friendly. [Very happy with 'Finding your way'] The reception also explained how to reach over the call beforehand. [Very happy with 'Privacy'] It was done behind closed doors and had enough privacy. [Very happy with 'Staff attitude'] Staff was friendly and nice. [Very happy with 'Treatment'] They explained why this treatment and further steps too. [Very happy with 'Medication'] They gave me medication. Since it was specialty clinic they gave the meds for free. [Very happy with 'Future plans'] Also told me about future plans, what we will do if the issue doesn't get resolved. [Very happy with 'Cleanliness'] The place was quite clean.

  8. Review titled Wonderful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Amanda Welsh - Posted on 05 September 2022

I had my right knee replaced at Central Middlesex Hospital in September 2022. I cannot speak highly enough of the care given to myself and others in my 4 bed ward in the Abbey Suite. Everyone was treated with kindness and compassion, whatever problems were being faced. If you placed a call to the nurses station it was answered immediately. Breakthrough pain was addressed quickly and advice given when necessary. Support for personal hygiene was offered with toiletries and a soft clean towel provided. Food was served hot and was very palatable. Tea, coffee and biscuits were offered between meals. Physiotherapy was also provided on several occasions. The level of care far outstripped that of my experience for similar surgery in a nearby private hospital. If there was a necessity, I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Central Middlesex Hospital. I would like to offer a huge thank you to all the staff, whatever their role, who took part in my care during my recent admission.

Had to wait 9 months for this appointment but it was worth the wait! Female senior consultant was so knowledgeable diagnosed me completely different to what was said before, but was pleased about this as previous treatment had not worked so was wanting answers from her which I received. Received a treatment plan going forward which she has been incredibly helpful with, so overall very pleased with the care I have received. Thank you dermatology at central Middlesex x

  10. Review titled Long wait for results

    by uniformcn43 - Posted on 20 July 2022

    1. I was referred to the Central Middlesex Hospital Cardiology Department with chest pain complaints and had an appointment in May 2022. I attended the department, but had to wait close to 2 hours to be seen, while other patients who arrived after me were seen before me. I asked reception to check that my arrival had been noted, and they confirmed it had been. It later turned out that there was a miscommunication and/or administrative error on the part of the department that caused the delay. 2. I was put on a 24 hour ECG in May 2022, and returned the monitor the following day. 3. It has now been 2 months and I have yet to receive any feedback at all. I have called the department for an update and it has proven nigh on impossible to get through to speak to reception. No one picks up.4. I attended reception in person 2 weeks ago where it turned out that the results were ready, but that they had just not been sent on to my GP. They promised to send the results over on the same day, but as of today, this has not been done - and again, no one answers the main reception number. 5. A draining experience.

Dear uniformcn43, I am sorry to hear that there was some confusion on the day you had your monitor fitted, and furthermore that you are having trouble waiting for the results. If you could contact the PALS team, they can have a look into this for you and try to get the results sent over to your GP as we are unable to identify you from this post. If you would like us to follow this up on your behalf, please contact the PALS team on 0208 869 5118 or LNWH-tr.PALS@nhs.net Kind Regards Pippa Kashmiry - Patient Experience Team
