  1. Review titled Good humour with great care

I attended today as I hurt my ankle. There was a bit of a wait to see the nurse but from the moment I got seen to the moment I left , I can’t fault the people who helped me. A quick decision to get an X-ray , lovely woman doing the X-rays , clear description of the break from the helpful nurse, friendly advice from all - they made a difficult situation feel human. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of care. I am pleased to hear it was a positive one. We can only apologise for delays, in some environments it can be difficult to predict the wait times due to the unpredictable nature of attendance. I will be happy to share your positive experience with the team.

  2. Review titled Fabulous service

Came to Cornwall for a holiday, but my son was unwell. After several calls to & from 111, we were given an appointment at Bodmin hospital. We were seen swiftly & given antibiotics, but more importantly, they put our minds at rest. Thank you Bodmin hospital!

  3. Review titled Amazing!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Susannah - Posted on 30 July 2023

My daughter dislocated her toe on the beach and we had to attend the small injuries clinic at Bodmin. The staff were so amazing - they fixed her toe and did two X-rays before and after to ensure that it was back in place. It looked so awful when we came in and my daughter was so upset and it was such a relief that they were able to deal with her injury so efficiently. All of the staff were absolutely lovely and the facilities were amazing, we are so lucky to have the NHS.

  4. Review titled Waiting time in Minor Injuries

    by Lancer25 - Posted on 06 July 2023

My husband, in his eighties, fell and landed on the lawn mower badly bruising one arm and sustaining a deep cut on his hand. At Bodmin Minor Injuries the triage nurse told him he wouldn’t have long to wait to see a nurse. Nearly three hours later he was still waiting. During this time, only three patients from the waiting room were seen, and including my husband there were only five patients there during the three hours. There were two nurses on duty apparently. A nurse came straight away to collect people they obviously knew who were on official business and later two auditors were greeted by a nurse and taken through. After a couple of hours, during which time only two patients had been seen, my husband was told there was one patient before him, and again he wouldn’t have long to wait. Thirty minutes after this patient left, my husband was still waiting, and feeling quite shaken from his fall, and by now very frustrated, decided he couldn’t wait around any longer and came home. Obviously we don’t know why it took two nurses nearly three hours to see three patients, but it seems a long time to be sitting around when you’re in discomfort, with no idea of how much longer you are going to wait. I think it would have helped a great deal, if a nurse could have let the patients know why there was a delay, instead of letting them sit there, watching the door, waiting for someone to be called through. Patients expect long waits when there’s a queue of people ahead of them, but when there doesn’t appear to be, they deserve to know why there’s a delay, especially as in my husbands case, they have been told there would only be a short wait.

Yesterday, while on holiday, I attended the MIU. I was seen speedily, and the 3 staff I saw (receptionist, triage nurse & the nurse who treated me), were all immensely kind, caring, helpful and extremely professional. I really appreciated their help. An excellent NHS experience. Thank you.

  8. Review titled My husband had an accident with his eye.

    by EyeEye52 - Posted on 11 January 2023

It’s so easy to complain about the NHS, and there are definitely issues and delays. However, our experience this morning has been amazing. Eye injury, phone 111 and within less than 1.5 hours, we had a triage, and two call backs and an asked to to go Bodmin minor injuries. Seen almost straight away. Discussion with Eye department at Trelisk who called back within half an hour. Recommended medications for administering now and an appointment made for Monday. He went for the appointment today to the eye clinic at Treliske. He was seen almost immediately by triage and then seen by an eye doctor within a few minutes. He was greatly reassured that no permanent damage had been done. It was explained to him how to look after it and reassured that if anything changes, he could come back to the clinic at any time. Such care and empathy. Treatment couldn’t have been better. Thank you Treliske eye clinic.

  9. Review titled Frustration and anger

by fedupin carbis bay - Posted on 17 October 2022

I had an appointment for an MRI scan at Bodmin Hospital. I was led to believe that an early scan was important as I would have to be booked for surgery somewhere outside Cornwall. Bodmin is an 80-mile round trip away (with no public transport alternatives)from my home. My neighbour kindly agreed to drive me there and to assist me as I have little mobility. Traffic on the A30 is awful but by starting off early we arrived in good time, only to be told the appointment had been cancelled because of a fault. We could wait 4 hours for an engineer to come from Bath in case he could fix it but no guarantee. To make another appointment I would have to go home and ring again - but no one answers the phone - I tried for 2 days to get through before today's appointment, without success. Have you any idea of the frustration, anxiety and fear this has caused me? Do you care? I am a pensioner and am beginning to doubt that I will ever get help before I die. I will just have to continue in pain and discomfort. Thanks for nothing NHS.

  10. Review titled Extremely well cared for…

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dorset Nurse - Posted on 09 October 2022

I visited Bodmin MIU after a fall while on holiday. I was treated with dignity, kindness and professionalism throughout my entire visit. Everyone I interacted with could not have been kinder or more helpful. I am a nurse myself and would like to say Thank You to the lady on reception, the triage nurse, emergency care practitioner on duty who looked after me and the radiographer. You were all great …I was seen, treated, discharged and home within 2 hours. I can’t name names but hopefully Matron will pass this feedback on to you and you will know who you are… Keep up the good work.
