    I can’t praise the surgery enough for the care & attention they have given & continue to give to my mum who is 100. From the reception staff to the nurses & the doctors who all go above & beyond. Thank you so much for your compassion & care. We as a family are very grateful.

    Last Friday, I did my annual diabetes review session. The diabetic nurse was very professional, kind and caring. She left the room twice to check with the receptionist about some medical issues. I always feel comfortable after the annual review. I greatly appreciate her help, thank you.

    I had to ring to ask for my prescription to be recalled from my regular pharmacy (Ranmoor Pharmacy) which has been unable to open in the last week due to a nationwide shortage of pharmacists. The pharmacy will only be open from 9am-1pm on 3 days this week so I will be unable to get to it due to work. The receptionist was extremely helpful, changing my regular pharmacy for me & marking it as urgent, due to my needing my medication shortly & the pharmacy being closed. I have to say, I have never had a problem accessing either a telephone or in person appointment when I have needed one and the reception staff have always tried to help.

    I know GPs get a lot of stick at the moment, but this practice is great. My son who is never ill was really quite poorly this morning. I did have a fairly long wait and a call back but I got him a face to face appointment that morning and the treatment he urgently needed. I also want to praise the kindness and skill of the receptionist ( dark hair and glasses) She dealt with a possibly confused and fairly belligerent patient who was obviously quite worried and making a complaint that didn't really make sense. She really helped the man who was getting increasingly loud ( hence me overhearing the conversation) whilst being incredibly calm and polite herself. I know receptionist have a hard job so I thought I would mention it.

  5. Review titled Great Doctors when you can get to talk to them

    First of all, the Doctors are Fantastic. It's the system that is failing and I'm not complaining just pointing out facts. Recently had bad shortness of breath and I got to see a Dr quite quickly who sent me to hospital. Great service. Problems started when I then tried to get a follow up appointment, as I felt extremely ill again. I asked for a short telephone call only, and was told there were no appointments left and I needed to ring back at 9 o'clock in the morning. As this was on a Friday morning it would be Monday. This seems like a race to get an appointment and no triage taking place. Its a lottery. You ring at bang on 9am and you are told you are number 20 in the queue. You wait in that queue for an hour to be told that there are no appointments are left. I have serious mental health issues, confirmed by a consultant psychiatrist and have medication that makes me sleep. I'm not in the right place to be in a race at a specific time for a 5 minute telephone call. Advice given was ring 111 or go to A & E. No advice on how to get a future appointment and this was not offered. Isn't this contrary to what the government are saying. You can't even book an appointment on line which would be easier for me and put less strain on the administration staff. I really don't know what to do.

    Thank you for your comments. We’re sorry to hear that you have had problems getting an appointment. Each day we open up new appointments some of which are for urgent issues and some for pre bookable appointments up to 2 weeks in advance. Unfortunately the demand for these appointments far outweighs the number available and then we have to ask patients to phone back the next day when further appointments will be available. We have been trying to recruit additional staff and have brought in new roles such as a Pharmacist and Physician Associates. It is hard to recruit staff at the moment due to the national shortage of doctors and other clinical staff but we will keep trying. We also have a team currently looking at new ways of working and online access systems and we agree that this is the way forward. As soon as the new system is in place we will update our website.     All the staff and doctors at this practice are helpful and committed but clearly overwhelmed at the moment. Is there a reason we are no longer able to book appointments online, as this used to work well and might help with the admin staff workload?

You are right, we are extremely busy at the moment and our staff are having to work very hard to try to meet the demand for appointments. We are looking for ways to ease the admin workload and also to give patients a variety of methods to book appointments. We will update our website as soon as these changes are made.
