Been attending 8 years never seen same dentist twice rings for emergency appointment to be told I'm not registered as my dentist as left also left me with exposed root had to pay 245 at a different dental practice to get it removed wouldn't take a stray dog there

Firstly I was kept waiting for half an hour after my appointed time(OK this happens on occasion), but this was only the beginning of a terrible experience. I was under the impression that I was attending to have some further work done only to be told this was a check up. The dentist himself was obnoxious and unhelpful. It was as though because I am an NHS patient he couldn't be bothered about me as I was not paying his private rate for treatment. I asked him a question about how to secure my dental plate following an extraction, his answer was merely a shrug of the shoulders. He shows no compassion or empathy and is a poor advert for an NHS practice. If it was possible to secure a place in another practice I would do so without hesitation and would recommend to anyone to avoid this practice.

Visited with tooth ache as an emergency appointment, Overall examination and X-ray done pretty quick and slotted in appointment quickly but X-ray showed root canal was needed. I was advised I’d have to have it done privately as NHS dentist wouldn’t have the equipment/ skill to carry out root canal required, was unlikely to be successful Declined private treatment with them, luckily my usual nhs dentist was able to slot me in appointment, root canal done with no problems nhs band 2. Be careful with the information received.

I was referred by 111 the day before after ringing them with acute pain. I was contacted by the practice within the hr & given an emergency appointment for the next day. The receptionist, dentist & assistant were friendly & helpful. I was so pleased & grateful to be seen as my own practice was no help. I found the dentist efficient helpful giving me antibiotics after diagnosing a abscess. So relieved & pleased with the help I was given. Thankyou to all. I felt I was treated well & still able to access my NHS status.

3 out of 4 appointments cancelled, once an hour before going and two on arrival. Told them we wouldn't be going back, only to receive the reply, "no problem"!

Have twice been to the practice this year for appointments, only to be told the dentist had moved on and the appointment was to be moved to another day. A phone call would have saved a great deal of wasted fuel and my time. On the second occasion they said they’d tried to contact me. They have the correct number. No evidence they’d tried. I won’t be going back.

I do not recommend anyone sign up with this practice. Even though it's really hard to find an alternative NHS dentist taking people on within 10-miles of Alfreton at the moment. They demonstrated they provide a incompetent appointments service by constantly changing appointments and booking appointments for the wrong work to be done. This causes delays and adds difficulties with more time of needed off work to attend all of which still don't resolve the basic needs of the patient. As a result after several years being with them I had to withdraw my name from there lists as of 27/7/22. The final straw come for me, when I needed a temporary filling replacing to a permanent one. I was booked in for this several times, and each time it was cancelled then they also changed the dentist. Now when I did get seen, I was told I was booked just to have a check up and not a filling. This was extremely frustrating as I was thoroughly checked 4-months before and even had updated X-ray images which is when the temporary filling was put in and so why do I need another set of check ups? The length of time to get a simple job done is absolutely ridiculous which also begs the question why are they trying to take on more patients? .. they blatantly can't manage what they already have. Very disappointed ☹️
