as a new patient I was checked up and told to do deep cleaning on my back teeth. It is Band 2 service. I booked it and was cleaned for 5 minutes on 4 teeth, none if the back teeth. This can be done together with the check up in the first appointnent, as other dentists normally did in my past experience. I doubt it was a Band 2 service costing me more.

  2. Review titled Bad service

I arrived early for my appointment in nov, was called in late, hygienist did half my teeth in 15 mins and told me I need to come back to have them completed for another cost of £70! The next appointment was February. I called to cancel the appointment as I was unwell and was told I have to pay £20. In nov I had a dentist appointment booked and that was cancelled last minute, I didn’t charge them! Goodbye I will find a better dentist!

  3. Review titled Cost of scale & polish?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 July 2023

Despite Band A of NHS dentist charges states the £25.80 includes a scale & polish but this practice seems to no longer do these under regular checks. This practice asked me to made another appointment for clean and polish only and that appointment finally cost additional £44.9 instead of following the NHS dentist charges.

  4. Review titled Standard has deteriated

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Have to say things seemed to have deteriorated since my last visit. The staff were all fine however the reception desk was very untidy and the chairs particularly one had a crack in it also the toilet door that opens into the reception was looking very dirty and someone used it and left the door slightly ajar and a really bad smell came out into the reception area.Skirting boards and everywhere looked like needed a good clean infact the whole place was scruffy compared to how it used to be .I know building work seems to be ongoing but it's taking an age.Even the Garden and the approach to the practice are in need of alot of attention.

  7. Review titled Must Improve!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2023

This dentist has got worse over the past 12mths... As a patient who has used this dentist for almost 40yrs (going back to the days of the practice being in the hands of Sellers & Bailey before Smile took it over a few yrs back), the service has always been outstanding from receptionist, dentist, hygenists, communication, etc etc... However, in the last 12mths the service has deteriated remarkably, & got even worse since part way through last year when it became part private & part nhs when previously always nhs... In the last 12mths several dentists/hygenists have moved on... this has resulted in several cancelled appointments which then need rebooking with no scope to be seen for 2-3mths... From a personal point of view, despite trying to see a dentist & hygenist since late 2021 i have been unable to see a hygenist & only seen a dentist once after several appts cancelled by practice due to hygenist/dentists leaving or building work at least 5 or 6 appts! Finally, got to see hygenist recently but told due to blood thinners could not do procedure... this despite the very long med check info form being completed every time had appt booked so practice had info on blood thinners & no communication saying needed to check about this plus prev dentist/hygenist visits had this recorded & despite blood thinners they proceeded with procedures with no issues... The latest euphoria of finally getting a hygenist appt after practice cancelling 4 or 5 was then quashed when told cannot do procedure til blood thinners checked & blood clotting at higher level (despite being ok by regular blood monitoring by medical staff)... Feel further frustrated & feel treated like 2nd class citizen as nhs patient & on blood thinners... I understand practice may worry about bleeding as on blood thinners (especially hygenist where lot of scrapping) but my blood thinners have never been issue on previous appts & been on these over 5yrs! Also if now need to check blood levels why not contact patient to advise before their appt, especially as practice already aware plus filled in the pre-appt info detailing this fact... Now have to get blood checked & rebook - probably be another few mths by which time about 18mths since seen hygenist... Also phone constantly engaged & regularly big queues to check in... In summary, this dental practice has gone remarkably downhill but most NHS patients are stuck with it as so hard to find other nhs dental practices... On a positive note, the staff when finally see a dentist are great & friendly when finally get to see them... Overrall, the booking service of this practice needs review & improving plus the practice needs to stop cancelling appts... if patient misses appt we are advised will be fined but if practice cancels (sometimes on the day when taken time off work) it's ok... Must improve!

  8. Review titled Terrible place

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Steve Jones - Posted on 14 February 2023

Went to have fillings done and afterwards without anyone telling me beforehand they tried to charge me for a new check up. You cannot charge a customer without first telling them what costs are involved. This used to be a fantastic dental practice before Smile Manchester took it over. Please do not use this place

  9. Review titled Terrible customer service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2023

Had 2 appointments cancelled on me now last minute, Ive just been asking if i can see another dentist that day as its not my fault they have cancelled again! The girl put the phone down on me, I called back spoke to another girl, who said i wasnt able to speak to a manager or the girl who put the phone down, i explained what happened and she says oh i could see it in her face you must have been abusive in your call, which i was not i have my 4 year old daughter sat next to me! Shocking behaviour shocking customer service ! To cancel two appointments and then tell me I know its not your fault but its just the way it is ,its NHS guidelines , what a shoddy excuse for bad customer service who cant answer your queries appropriately ,not even an apology Im so shocked at these two members of staff excuses for bad customer service
