Trying to call the dentist for an appointment for my husband who is a private patient. Kept on hold for an hour! Disgraceful way to treat callers.

We have seen an increased demand from patients wishing to contact us for appointments, which has put many practices under pressure. I’ve been a patient at My Dentist for a number of years and until now the service has been reasonable. On Friday I phoned requesting an appointment due to the fact I had a very painful toothache. I was advised that my dentist was off on maternity leave and her ‘cover’ had left the practice so there was no dentist available. I asked if I could see another dentist and was told there was only one dentist working that day and that it was impossible for me to be seen until the next week. Needless to say I will not be returning to My Dentist Tiddington Road at anytime in the future.

Dear A.Tyler, As you may be aware, we do have several Dentist vacancies at your practice and are actively trying to recruit. Unfortunately, recruitment of dentist’s post pandemic is proving extremely difficult. There is a shortage of dentists in the UK which is making attracting dentists to certain areas of the country more difficult, and we are experiencing challenges in recruiting to the area. However, we are looking at all options to attract and re-locate dentists to your practice. Please be assured that the vacancies are not through any lack of trying or apathy on our part, purely that recruiting dentists, is proving difficult. However, whilst we are recruiting, if you experience a dental emergency, e.g. swelling or bleeding then you can still contact the practice and they will triage your symptoms and advise you how obtain emergency assistance until the practice is fully staffed. I have been attending My Dentist in Stratford upon Avon for number of years. A little while a go I broke my front tooth which was a crown. The root was in 3 pieces and had to come out. I went down the root of having an implant, I was recommended to a dentist within the same practice. But private, On Friday 11/11/2022 I finally had my new tooth fitted. I’m so pleased. I had a few appointments to achieve this including a bone implant, at all times the dentist and his nurse were so professional in every stage of my new tooth. I would recommend My Dentist to anyone who needed an implant.
