  5. Review titled Poor service, no apology

Rated 1 star out of 5

Check up appointment this week. Turned up to be told sorry your appointment has been postponed, with out any contact, no sorry, no lets see what we can do, just oh we don't have an Nhs dentist for u to see, try again in 2 months when we May have found a suitable person. But u can see your same dentist privately now. Asked cost, Nhs £23, pvte £39 for same dentists, same service, same allowed time. Appalling! Didn't u get our letter I'm asked, yes but it says I can stay as NHS patient, so the change didn't apply and in any way was from the dentist I had recently changed from because that same dentist had chosen to only work at my dentist 2 days a week causing delays in getting an appointment.

Dear Patient, I am very sorry to hear that your appointment was cancelled and that were not advised. Please accept our apologies, I appreciate that this will be very frustrating. It is unfortuantely the case that the practice currently has vacancies for NHS dentists, as the previous NHS dentists have relinquished their NHS commitments, to practice on a private basis. We are trying to fill the vacancies, however, the recruitment process is ongoing. There is a national shortage of dentists throughout the UK which is having an impact on our ability to recruit as quickly as we would like. Please be assured that although we are unable to see you for any routine NHS dental treatment at this time, we are continuing to offer a telephone triage and emergency service at the practice Emergency appointments are available subject to capacity. Kind Regards, Nicola, Patient Services Manager, {my}dentist

  6. Review titled Excellent dental practice, but...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

When I was contacted by phone earlier this month to be told that my private hygienist appointment could go ahead, but not my annual NHS check up, I asked if this was because the practice was going private; the receptionist bristled and said "Oh no! All our dentists are working very hard to clear the backlog!" The implication being that this was due to the pandemic. Yet when I attended for my hygienist appointment, receptionists were advising people that the practice would be private from July 1st. So, yes the dentists were busy clearing the backlog, but only to complete ongoing NHS treatments before that date. It's been common knowledge that the practice has been going private by stealth for months - only offering private appointments and not NHS, even in emergencies - so why was I lied to?

Thank you for your review. It may help if I confirm that the pratice has not gone private and does wish to continue with its NHS commitments. However, the dentists at the practice have decided to relinquish their NHS obligations with effect 1st July, which unfortunately means that the pratice now has a number of NHS dentist vacancies. We are actively recruiting to fill those dentist vacancies, however, recruitment in dentistry is extremely challenging and we cannot confirm when we will be able to secure the services of an NHS clinician. Please be assured that although we are unable to see you for any routine NHS dental treatment whilst we recruit, the practice is continuing to offer a telephone triage and emergency service. Emergency appointments remain available subject to capacity and may require patients to travel to another site. Kind Regards, Nicola, Patient Services Manager, {my}dentist

  7. Review titled 3 days notice, before opting out of NHS

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 June 2022

Today 27th of June, I have received a letter, from dental practitioner, I am registered with, at the practice. On the letter, I was informed, the dentist decided to opt-out of providing NHS care, from 1st July. What practically means I was given 3 calendar days of notice, to find another NHS dentist. I respect the dentist decision, and I appreciate I was informed; however, if respect towards patient would be measured with number of days of notice, then 3 days does not make me feel to much respected.

Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologise for the delay in our patients receiving a letter in relation to the changes at the practice from 1st July. Unfortunately the change means that the pratice now has a number of NHS dentist vacancies. We are actively recruiting to fill those dentist vacancies, however recruitment in dentistry is extremely challenging and we cannot confirm when we will be able to secure the services of an NHS clinician. 8. Review titled Only private routine dental treatment available

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 June 2022

The practice has advised me they cannot assure routine treatment within NHS care, but only private. I have found this information only, because I was trying to book a routine appointment. It is unclear why they could not make me aware, in advance, with respect to sensible notice period, that they will not be able providing NHS dental care. This lack of communication from the practice caused that I was left without access to routine NHS dental care, for the next 2 - 4 months , what time is usually needed to process registration with new dental practice, prior to having an appointment for the required treatment, which actually I need rigt now. I can understand the practice can make the decision to cease supporting NHS patients, but this could have been processed with more care, respectively patients' dental health. I was registered with this practice for many years, and after so many years of exeptional care, I feel so much let down.

  9. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Even with toothache it is not possible to receive NHS treatment, no availability, however surprisingly there is availability if you can afford £75! As a patient of this practice for many years I am deeply disappointed that the practice is clearly being privatised.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, as this practice is already at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are currently unable to offer you an NHS place. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options for patients to access dentistry, outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care. Kind Regards Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader
