  1. Review titled Good dental care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Geraldine Holben - Posted on 11 June 2023

I think the dental care I receive for the one tooth I have identified as a problem and am now paying privately for as no NHS dentist is available is good. However, I would like the dentist to check all my teeth and give advice each time I visit rather than look at one tooth I have identified as a problem. In the last 35 years with an NHS dentist it was part of the treatment and helped me look after my teeth. It also gave me notice to book an appointment if the dentist thought I might need a filling in the future. It feels as though it’s crisis management rather than preventative dental care. On the admin side I have always found the receptionists helpful and patient.

Dear Geraldine Holben, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm assuming you booked an emergency apt? If so this would explain why only your problem tooth was addressed. If you would like a full exam please contact the practice. Kind Regards Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader

  2. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Smith - Posted on 26 June 2023

I had been treated by this practice for the past 5/6 months. I am 100 percent satisfied with everything they had done and wouldn't go anywhere else or trust anyone else. The lady who did all my treatment was very nice and done a great job. I can't thank the lady and the practice enough for everything they have done

  3. Review titled Avoid

Rated 1 star out of 5

This dental practice is awful. Our NHS dentist left and they can’t recruit another so there we can’t access any dental treatment and they don’t know when this will be rectified. My young child was in pain with an obvious infection and they refused to see him and tried to tell me to pay privately ‘if it’s an emergency’. Interestingly, another local dentist saw and treated her (even though they have no NHS spaces) because he was a child in pain. It’s a shame her own dentist couldn’t offer this! They have also tried to tell me that they could remove us from the list as we didn’t go in over a year- it was in the middle of the pandemic! Lots of reviews elsewhere say the same, sadly. The head receptionist is incredibly rude, dismissive and patronising. If you aren’t willing to pay private prices they aren’t remotely interested in helping. I ended up going private with the other dentist who was kind enough to see my child and treat him

As you may be aware, we do have several dentist vacancies at your practice and are actively trying to recruit. Unfortunately, recruitment of dentist’s post pandemic is proving extremely difficult. There is a shortage of dentists in the UK which is making attracting dentists to certain areas of the country more difficult and we are experiencing challenges in recruiting to the area. However, we are looking at all options to attract and re-locate dentists to your practice. Please be assured that the vacancies are not through any lack of trying or apathy on our part, purely that recruiting dentists, is proving difficult. However, whilst we are recruiting, if you experience a dental emergency, e.g. pain, swelling or bleeding then you can still contact the practice and they will triage your symptoms and advise you how obtain emergency assistance until the practice is fully staffed. Kind Regards {my}dentist Patient Support Team

  4. Review titled Friendly and Helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I suffered from a broken tooth, but no pain and asked the friendly receptionists if I could possibly be seen, they had no appointments available but said they would call me if there were any cancellations, I received a call about an hour later. The nurse and dentist were extremely friendly and very reassuring. I would recommend this practice highly. Due to the current nationwide shortage of NHS dentists the practice are struggling with NHS appointments but offer a very affordable private option.

  5. Review titled appointment cancelled, Again

Rated 1 star out of 5

Yet again for the sixth time my appointment cancelled, have to start wondering if this is a practicing dental service or they just wish to loose all their NHS users and only service Private Patients!

  6. Review titled Good dentist if you can get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2022

Generally the appointments I've had with dentists here have been positive experiences, over the many years I've been an NHS patient with them. I've yet to need proper treatment from them, but my check ups have always been stellar. The hygienist at this practice is also amazing. Earlier this year I had an appointment cancelled, which I then tried to rebook. The booking system was down and I was told I'd be called back later that day or the next. I never was. I called them a couple of weeks later in September to book, to find they had no NHS appointments available until spring 2023, as their NHS dentist now barely takes NHS appointments. It's been over a year since I've seen a dentist now, because I haven't been able to get an appointment at this practice. The receptionist was also very dismissive of me the last day I called, snapping at me when I say yes I was an NHS patient. I've never had a bad experience with the receptionist here until now. They display a sign outside saying "Appointments Available" with a smaller print saying only via their private service. Overall, a good dentist, if you can afford to go private with them, but otherwise impossible to get an appointment because their NHS dentist seemingly does not do NHS work any more. I'm worried their reception staff may have gotten worse too, but I'm hopeful it was just a bad day for that particular member of staff.

The reception team is the face of our practice and it is important to us that they provide all patients with the service they deserve.
