    after waiting for over a week for an appointment they booked me with a trainee who cant even help when i asked the receptionist why this had happened they didnt have a respon

    I have a phobia of needles so I was referred to Broadwalk for Nitrouus Oxide (gas and air) to help calm me before a filling. The dentist was incredibly kind, calm and they looked after me with great care. The dentist spoke to me throughout the procedure, reassuring me and explaining exactly what was happening. I would not hesitate to come back again should I require any further invasive work. I felt a great deal of trust towards the dentist and I am so relieved that the experience was a positive one. Thank you Broadwalk!

    The receptionist called me at 16:24 today to advise me my appointment for wisdom teeth extraction which was scheduled for 5pm had been cancelled due to the fact the dentist had only just looked at my x-rays and realised that they were not able to perform the treatment as it needed to be surgically done and it could not be done at your centre. As per your email to me on Monday 27/02/2023 which advised me to get to my appointment 15/20 minutes before my appointment I was 5 minutes away, I had travelled all the way from Hornchurch I do not drive so have had to pay for an Uber there. My father had travelled from Cambridge to be at the appointment with me as per your advise on the previously mentioned email from yourselves. Both of us have had to take time off work to attend this appointment. Once I arrived, not only is the place filthy, your receptionist is thoughtless and discourteous and showed absolutely no compassion what so ever, I understand this was not their fault directly but there was not a single attempt to help us in any way. We asked to speak to the dentist and was told he was with a patient but we could wait for him, we waited. 15 minutes later, a patient comes out, the receptionist leaves the desk to go and speak to the dentist, I assume. She comes back says nothing to us and sits back down. My father approached the desk at this point 20 minutes had passed we are standing there for nothing, she advised we won’t be able to speak to the dentist he’s too busy and they are behind. What happened to my time slot? I still surely had a time slot I had an appointment booked in here? So surely the dentist had some time to just advise me what was going on what I needed to do next but no.

    I contacted them by phone on several occasions. 4/5 times they don’t answer the phone. When they did answer they promised to do things and then did nothing! I told them my request was urgent but it made no difference. They have no understanding of what customer service is!

    The appointment was an hour late. The receptionist failed to communicated this to me when I arrived or whilst I sat waiting. I was only told when I enquired about how much longer it would be. At the end of the appointment the receptionist charged me the wrong amount. Then rung me 30 minutes after I had left, to say I had to return to pay the remaining amount, which do due them being an hour behind schedule, I could not do as I was late for another appointment. The receptionist couldn't take my card details over the phone as she did not know how to do it. They have yet to send off my X-rays as the actions of the receptionist is delaying this process. Highly recommended you go elsewhere for your dental needs.

    My daughter is 11 and has a phobia of needles and has struggled at times with the dentist, but has worked on this and was a lot better, but following a visit to this dentist she has regressed in this respect. We were advised to attend this dentist recently for a procedure, as they specialise in nervous patients and having had a positive experience there 4 years ago we were happy to book in with them. The receptionist was friendly but otherwise the clinical staff were pretty unfriendly and did not put my daughter at ease at all. Firstly the dentist did not greet her by her name just told her to sit in the chair, without introducing himself, which my daughter told me afterwards made her feel unsafe immediately. The Dentist made no attempt to reassure or relax my daughter who was getting more nervous. The nurses appeared to lack empathy as she was struggling with the procedure especially as the gas and air wasn't working....they didn't tell us there's a possibility it may not work until she was lying there with the mask being pressed against her face. Then out of nowhere the dentist tried to put a needle in my daughters mouth without warning. Which caused her to cry and get v distressed. His response lacked any empathy....in fact it just made my daughter feel worse....he said "we did this on a 5 year old this morning and they were fine". When we went to this practice 4 years ago there was a different dentist who introduced himself, greeted my daughter by name, was smiley, kind, talked through everything clearly with my daughter before hand and spent time putting her at ease. This approach was severely lacking with my daughter this week; if the dentist and his assistants had been more friendly, informative and kind I think my daughter would've gone ahead with the procedure...instead of having to abandoning it wasting everyone's time. All the clinical staff we had contact with looked pretty fed up, one of the nurses attempted some vague interaction with my daughter and I, but the other one didnt speak at all. Maybe they were all having a bad day or struggling with their own mental health issues, but they need to be aware that this can be transferred onto patients especially children (I work in child and adult mental health). Their approach led to my daughter feeling unsafe and now completely terrified of dentists again, which is extremely frustrating. I think some further child mental health training would be beneficial for the clinical staff in this particular practice.
