In addition to review previous, for the receptionist on urgent that was extremely helpful, welcoming and understanding. Thanking you.

  2. Review titled A saviour after being denied services by GP

Came to department in desperation as couldn't get gp practice to prescribe dressings for my wounds on my legs and wouldn't allow to see a nurse. The nurses here at urgent care were fantastic and have really enabled me to go away and manage my wound. l also had to access in house hospital services yesterday in icdc for antibiotics as wound was cellulitic. Again the gp services denied me access for this yesterday

  3. Review titled Reception was stopping my child getting urgent care

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by N.K. - Posted on 27 April 2022

My child had problems breathing, was gasping for air and I called 999 (the ambulance) several times. As the ambulance was busy and said they won't be able to attend for several hours I called 111. I had a call back and consultant who examined my child over the phone told me to attend the urgent treatment centre, I was given the time and address to attend. Upon arrival the receptionist told me that I was supposed to wait for 'the third call' which I knew nothing about/ wasn't told about as I was instructed by the consultant who called me back to come to Urgent Centre and I was given the time slot. The receptionist told me off for 'showing up' and said that, as a result of not waiting for the third call, my sick child will be pushed back to the end of the queue. Everyone who came after us was seen before us and we had to wait almost 3 hours until the waiting room was empty and nobody was around. I lodged a complained and got 'sorry' but this is just not good enough. This receptionist should attend training as she is endangering lives of children as revenge on unwitting parents by punishing the sick child and holding her from getting help at A&E. Ideally, you don't want a person with this attitude to work at A&E where people come to get urgent help. You would think that children would get priority treatment, not be punished back by someone at reception because their parents didn't know about the third call and simply took them where and when they were told to go, by the consultant during the call- back.
