From the staff on reception to the team of Doctors and nurses, my whole experience was excellent and any uncertainty I had before my operation was swiftly alleviated. The all round care I received was superb and I would strongly recommend Spa Medica at Newcastle Under Lyme to anyone who needs help with their eyesight.

The manner in which I was dealt with at Spa Medica was excellent. Members of staff and surgeons did their jobs without fuss. Everything was explained clearly and I have no complaints of any kind. I had to wear spectacles from the age of 11. I am now 88 and had not seen the world so clearly again until now. Removing the cataracts has really altered my view of the world :)

The staff were very professional and supportive. My mum, who is over 80, felt the process was easy and she was spoken to with courtesy and respect.

Arrived there and greeted at door and offered a drink. Checked in and waited a while before seeing the nurse who verified which eye was to be done and apply eye drops to dilate and also anaesthetise the eye. Another wait before the op and then finally entering the operating theatre which was much larger than anticipated. Lay on the bed with head resting on an indented cushion. Head covered in cloth apart from left eye and a shield applied to prevent blinking. Operation lasts about 20mins. Triple very bright lights are in vision throughout which you are asked to focus on. Very weird experience. No pain at all. A protective shield placed over the eye. After the operation disorientated for a while probably due to the intensity of the lights. All the staff were friendly and helpful and answered any queries thrown at them. Had a coffee afterwards and then went home. I wouldn’t describe it as a pleasant experience but the staff went out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. The best bit is the next day when your vision is so much clearer. Thank you it’s amazing.

From the moment I walked into the practice I was taken care of the procedure was explained to me in every detail and any fears I had at first were quickly removed. The consultant explained what would take place during the operation and all of the nursing staff in attendance took great care of me. In the discharge room the nurse explained to myself and my husband who was in attendance all of the required recovery points following this operation especially for the first 14 days. I would and have recommended SpaMedica to others Thanks to all concerned

Exceptional Service from all the staff involved in the service and treatment I was given whilst at SpaMedica. I now feel confident at the prospect of returning for a second cataract operation. Thank you to the whole team.

Recently I made my fourth visit to SpaMedica – two pre-ops and two procedures. On every occasion the service was brilliant. The staff, from start to finish, were extremely polite and knowledgeable. I was number 30 at the end of a very busy day, but the attention to my situation was as good as ever. I would have no hesitation in recommending SpaMedica to anyone who required treatment such as mine. Many thanks Brian Astall

This was my first cataract operation and was extremely pleased with the level of care provided. Looking forwards to having my other eye cataract removed ASAP.

I was picked up in Derby for a cataract operation on my left eye, by a very pleasant driver, and expected to be in for 3 hours, and was offered refreshments. I was out in 2 hours, and immediately taken home by the same driver. The operation went well, and the next day my eyesight was perfect, I could see well in my left eye, and 3D vision is restored! I have just finished 2 weeks of eyedrop application, and at no point have I had any discomfort. Thank you.
