I have had cataract surgery on both eyes second one on 28 August. Very pleased with the service, both with the lovely people working there and the short wait times before the appointment. In fact my recent one was next day. A special mention to my surgeon who has a wonderful ability to put you at ease, especially good for a nervous patient like me. Thank you all at SpaMedica.

I had a good experience except for one area. My eyes have adapted themselves to mono vision. This is my second eye to have a cataract surgery This is my distance eye. I had discussed continuing with mono vision at my previous surgery and my consultant at the West Suffolk hospital was happy to do this . This time I asked about continuing with mono vision and was uncomfortable with the way my questions were answered I felt I was being told that's your decision but it's not advised. Then I was pushed to sign the consent form. I asked for more clarification then felt ok with signing the form. I assumed I would have another opportunity to discuss this with the surgeon but he told me he only had information on the eye he was about to operate on This mornings the day after my procedure my eyes are seeing as I hoped.

It was my second cataract and because of my previous experience I was quite relaxed and I wasn’t disappointed. I can’t fault the surgeon. My one small problem was the discharge nurse who spoke so fast and very quietly that I couldn’t understand her properly. Having already had one eye done I knew what I needed to do but had it been the first one I would have had a real problem.

Treatment, staff and facilities were excellent. I had cataract operation on both eyes and both times could not fault the service received.

From the moment I entered into reception until I left, I felt nothing but relaxed and confident as every person I came into contact with “knew their role” and did it courteously and professionally. I came for cataract surgery and skill of the surgeon and supporting team were absolutely excellent, everything explained before and during the process made me feel relaxed and confident. Highly recommended

Extremely happy with my treatment and care provided by SpaMedica. Very quick service from initial appointment through to the procedure. All the medical staff and reception were very professional and friendly. I would certainly recommend this practise to anyone needing cataract treatment

I have now had both eyes done and it is very clear to me that the approach by the surgeons were different which I believe is the reason I have much better vision in one eye compared to the other. The second surgeon was very thorough in irrigating my eye when removing the lens compared to the ‘conservative’ work by the first one. I could tell this because of the quantity of liquid running down my neck during the second operation. The consequence of this is I have cloudy and blurred vision in the first operated eye. My optometrist when assessing my eye after the 4 week healing period mentioned that there were still small ‘fragments’ of cells left In the eye which I was told could have implications further down the road. It also turns out that the insertion of the lens was not carried out accurately resulting in folding in the posterior capsule? I was made aware of this as I was experiencing streaks of lights when looking at any light source, especially when driving at night. This was confirmed by the optometrist during a revisit to Spamedica. I have been given an appointment for laser treatment which I do hope will cure the symptoms. I was happy with the care I got from the staff at the Colchester clinic. Night driving was an issue I struggled with and I honestly thought that this treatment would improve my night vision. I still wait to see the outcome
