Appointment letter stated go to Urology department...the signs for which led to an old ward now used for storage. Asked numerous people where the department was and was told a different place each time which were all sign posted to cupboards or unused wards/offices. Went to Outpatients and showed the receptionist the appointment letter, was told I wasn't down on the outpatient clinic list as the clinic is in the main hospital, try m2 or m3. This was another Went back to Outpatients after wandering around for ages and spoke to a nurse who looked t my letter and said I was late for the appointment like I was stupid so I explained how I had actually arrived on site ten minutes early and been sent on a wild goose chase by the staff...she spoke to the doctor and he said I would need to reschedule. So unorganised and unprofessional, your appointment letters need to state exactly where to go because if your staff don't know how are we meant to? I was penalised for incompetence and I didn't even get an apology. I tried to phone the number on the website but no one was answering. Your urology signage and directions seriously need looking at as they are wrong and your appointment letters need to be a lot clearer and not send people to non-existent departments. This is a stressful time for people and staff don't inspire confidence in the service when they are telling you the wrong things. Offer to solve the patients query by phoning and finding out where they should be don't just send them off aimlessly so they miss an appointment that was actually in your department! You wasted the NHS money for my missed appointment today not me.

We are very sorry for your stressful experience when trying to attend your appointment, and that the staff you spoke with were less than helpful. We would like to look into this further for you but will need more detail to be able to do so. Our Patient Experience Team is always happy to help and may be contacted on telephone 0800 432 0251 or email wuth.patientexperience@nhs.net.

  2. Review titled Sign posts to Outpatients

To keep an appointment on site , at outpatients . I found it extremely difficult to find a car park handy for an elderly ,infirm husband to enable me to get him into the department .the first problem was when I took the road , that used to lead to the correct dept . Buildings stopped me [ and I do know they are very necessary ones ] I then tried to find another way , saw a sign outpatients , followed it , into another car park , but no outpatients ! Went around towards Cancer Hosp , thinking I could ask man in the box ! , no man . Parked [temp] , dashed in asked for help , was directed back towards main Hosp , where I was told there was a pedestrian crossing , turn right Ok , found crossing , went to turn right barrier down and not wide enough for car . Had to park car [where I asked permission ] dashed in to borrow wheelchair , sadly only one I could use was not insured for the outdoors !! However , very kindly a member of staff explained how to get around to the correct door , then I could drop him off , but would then need to park car elsewhere !! Phew [ and its raining , ] got him in there , and again same member off staff explained where I could park . [ I had known this park , this was where I was heading , but came across the new builds , then got lost ] I parked and returned to clinic . My big request is please , please sort out some prominent sign posts outpatients, and make sure they point in the correct direction . I would like to add all the staff in the department were so lovely , and very helpful , my husband was treated with such kindness . This may seem like a very petty complaint , but when the weather is appalling , and you are struggling to walk yourself , and have to keep jumping out of the car to ask for help, a few signs would help take away the stress on an already stressful situations for everyone , not just us oldies .

  3. Review titled Can't find anything

I have to return to this hospital this week and I've just spent over an hour trying to figure out where to go. The last time I came here I ended up having a panic attack after driving in circles trying to find where to park, leaving it somewhere and having to get someone to walk me to a building - i don't even know which building as then we seemed to go through corridor after corridor after corridor. I was a pained wreck by the time I got to my appointment and then I realised I had no idea where my car was. Cue a kind nurse helping me to find it while I tried not to hyperventilate. I am not looking forward to returning - I am no clearer on where to park or how to get to the main entrance once parked. No amount of pictures I've seen have been helpful. What a mess of a hospital.
