It really doesn't surprise me that suicide rates are so high. I've struggled with depression for 8 years. I've had numerous therapy with my most recent ending 2 months ago. I wasn't signed off as in recovery because I am not. I was referred for further support and attended an initial assessment. I attended. Sat there sobbing and talking about how I think about ending my life, hurting myself and feeling hopeless. I was given a prescription and sent on my way. I was asked to complete a risk factor form and a mood diary for the week leading to my appointment. Neither was asked for. I'm not surprised suicide rates are so high. It takes a lot to ask for help and when I did I didn't get it.
