I have nothing against the doctor I saw as he was very nice and professional. My appointment with him was very positive. What I am disappointed about is that as a disabled person I was forced to wait outside in the rain and sit on a soaked bench despite wearing a mask because I was told I was not allowed to wait inside, even though I could have sat on a chair further down the corridor where there was no one else around. When I explained I struggled to stand up for long (I have two health conditions) I was told I still had to wait outside. I know covid is still very much part of our daily lives; however, we are no longer in lockdown and as a disabled person I feel some allowances should have been made for this so that I wasn't forced to sit on a wet bench in the rain prior to my appointment. If I wasn't wearing a mask I could have understood the reluctance to let me in but I was and I was alone. I feel that health services should be more than aware that many sick and/or disabled persons are attending and not lose sight of their humanity and make allowances in certain situations. I felt that there was a lack of concern or even perhaps belief in my situation and no one seemed willing to try and find a solution, such as putting the one chair which was in the corridor outside for me to sit on. I'm a passive person and hate asking for anything especially when I feel intimidated. I feel very upset by this experience despite having a positive appointment with the actual doctor who I would personally recommend. I will make others with health conditions aware that unless the weather is dry Lancing health centre is not very accommodating for people who have specific needs but are not full time wheelchair users.
