  1. Review titled Brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Brian Libby - Posted on 19 December 2022

Having had a week of discomfort from a fall on ice I felt it best I get checked for anything nasty. The service and kindness of the staff I met was exceptional, not least with their explanations. They are a credit to the NHS.

  2. Review titled Wonderful caring staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was unable to even get my GP to answer the phone. Econsult is turned off daily so quick you cannot submit anything. After using 111 was advised to go to Derriford, I didn't feel it was worthy of an A&E visit so opted for Cumberland center at 8am when they opened. From the lady on reception, to the 2 ladies on triage and the wonderful nurse who saw me I could not be more grateful. Kind, caring, to thorough and listened to me. Only took 90 mins start to finish. Full diagnosis and treatment plan. Nurses are the backbone of the NHS! GP's could learn from you guys. thankyou so much. You are appreciated xx

  3. Review titled Terrible cautery ENT department

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Federica Buriani - Posted on 26 November 2022

I have been treated with silver nitrate in one of my nostrils and the doctor did it so badly that also the skin between the nostril and the upper lip is now burned (black). It is so ugly and embarrassing! I spoke with a dermatologist and probably it will stay like that for 10 days or so... I am so disappointed.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Having checked with the ENT department here at Derriford Hospital (UHP), Andrea Anstey, ENT & Audiology Support Manager explained that you were not seen as a UPHNT patient and therefore would have been treated by DRSS or Livewell. UHP sends a consultant to the Cumberland Centre one morning a fortnight to see booked patients but you have not ever been booked into this clinic with us. I can only suggest you check with the Livewell team and let them know about your concerns. They can be contacted by phone on 01752 268011 or by email at customerservicespch@nhs.net Thank you Alison Stanton Patient Services

I had occasion to visit the Cumberland Centre for the first time last weekend. Friends recommended I go there. The staff from the reception to the triage to the nurse who saw and examined me. Absolutely fantastic service. They listened, recognised my concerns and put my mind at rest. I have since visited my GP and am awaiting an ultrasound. I cannot thank all the staff that I met, caring kind and simply amazing! Thank you!!

  6. Review titled Turned away!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 October 2022

I had an appointment with GP who could see how much pain I was in for my knee, unable to bare any weight and struggling to walk. I was told my GP that while I was waiting for the physio to go to the Cumberland centre to get it x rayed as it is suspected that I have chipped the bone in my knee. I turned up to the Cumberland centre and greeted by a security guard who told me I couldn’t come in due to staff shortages. He proceeded to quiz me on my injury and then told me that I wasn’t in enough pain to come in. He said he would ask the receptionist though. I stood outside in pain with my 2 year old daughter waiting. The receptionist greeted me and told me that I wasn’t allowed to be here, that it’s the GP’s problem and I had to just wait for a physio to see me. She explained that there are no image services for me, even though I had an X ray with them earlier this year. Even as I cried in pain with my daughter now crying as well, they told me to leave. I completely understand that the NHS is busy and working incredibly hard but to be turned away by non medical professionals who had supposedly determined how much pain I was in by just quizzing me is completely unacceptable. Everyone has the right to medical treatment especially at a walk in treatment centre. I have never been so disappointed and let down before!

I am sorry to read about the negative experience you had at the Urgent Treatment Centre Cumberland. I would ask that you please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01752 439884 with more details of your visit including date and time of attendance so that we can investigate this more thoroughly and provide you with a personal response. You can also email them at plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net. When making contact, please quote reference PALS 69618 so we can combine this response with any future contact. There are times that we unfortunately must close the unit early due to a high demand for the service. However if this was the case, this should have been explained to you and signposting to other services given. Thank you for taking the time to complete feedback.

I found the practice very caring and useful. The PPG event for exercise and wellbeing explained well and very useful for daily routine. The staff are brilliant. Very helpful, warm heart and always respond to needs.

  10. Review titled Absolutely faultless: can't praise them enough

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Vicki - Posted on 18 July 2022

I was triage'd and xrayed within 20 mins of arriving and the nurse who took care of my issue was welcoming, efficient and really reassuring. I was there for about 3 hours in total but didn't feel that was at all excessive and can completely understand the wait. I honestly can't praise the place or its staff highly enough and I hope they are aware of how appreciated they are. Genuine thanks.
