Having been told by friends how cateract surgery was quick and painless I decided to have it. done. I have never experienced such an unpleasant experience before. I felt as though my eye was being pulled out of its socket No one spoke to me through out the procedure giving me a ball to squeeze instead. The surgeon never once asked me if I was ok. Infact I only just managed to not call out stop This all happening after a 2 hour wait. I am now not sure whether I would have this procedure again.Perhaps I was just unlucky with the surgeon I had but it is an experience I will never forget Any long term affects after this rough treatment I won't know for some weeks

After my surgery I was concerned how much pain I was in and tried to contact the helpline, somebody from out of the area answered and gave me a direct line number I tried ringing throughout the morning, absolutely no reply, couldn't even leave a message I wont be having my other eye done here

Initial contact was OK, eyes tested on machines then session with consultant. Ok for 2 visits. Then the machines broke. Told not allowed to make consultant appointment without machine results and no allowed to make machine and consultant appointments on same day. Explained this meant 2 visits and 2 lots of train fares which was expensive for an OAP and I was allowed to see consultant without machines. 1 year on and its all wrong again. Auot appointment for machine tests only. Computer not working so waited over an hour. Complained about dual visits and was given a telephone appointment. Result? Make another appointment and pay more train fares to come and see us again "because it's out policy not to make 2 appointments on the same day - we don't care if the train fares stop you eating for a day". Really bad and I guess the NHS is paying a lot of money for this

The place is in a converted shop, the reception staff were sort of helpful. The First Lady “health professional “ that I saw had a script that she could not deviate from, from the very beginning I had zero confidence in the process. It seems that you need to go through a series of not very skilled people before you reach the skilled person. I had so little confidence that I left after a short time. If this is the future of the privatised nhs then god help us.

I have recently had two cataract operations undertaken here. The staff are brilliant from reception through to operating theatre, being friendly and super efficient. I was a bit nervous to begin with as anything to do with eyes makes me a bit squeamish but all the staff promised me a painless experience which would be over in a few minutes. They told the truth. From having really poor foggy vision, post op, I now have no need for glasses. What a transformation. I can't thank the whole team enough.

I visited the site last month for a routine high eye pressure check that I have had many times before in Hertford which is now closed (I have thicker than normal cornea). Whilst in the waiting room, I noticed the optometrist was extremely distracted, constantly leaving the room and looking around for someone outside of the building every 10 minutes or so. This happened even when I was sitting in the room. The optometrist didn't use the usual tool which I rest my chin on, instead instructing me to sit still and just using a pen-like implement to poke my eye by hand and swirl it against my eye. This caused a lot of discomfort at the time but I trusted the process. After an hour of visiting, the pain subsided. It was only several days later I noticed that the eye's vision was now permanently blurry. After visiting my usual opticians to find out if there was something wrong, they verified that my cornea is now scratched and I was prescribed eye drops to try and repair the damage as it isn't healing even after 3 weeks. I tried to call CHEC today as I've had at least 3 appointments booked with them but only 1 is appearing in my NHS app. I was 25th in the queue. After waiting over 40 minutes, I reached the front of the queue where a voicemail stated the mailbox was full, and then disconnected me. Needless to say I feel completely let down and regret visiting this clinic. I will now have to visit a hospital as my eye is stinging and painful every morning. I hope the damage caused isn't permanent

I had Cataracts in both eyes and received appointments for both eyes very quickly. The clinic is run very efficiently and the staff from the Receptionists to the surgeon were very professional and my eyesight has improved enormously.

The clinic is well set up and seems to be efficient. However. I was disappointed by the manner of the technician who administered my eye scan: she was brusque and peremptory to the point of rudeness. It's a great shame that one person with a bad attitude can undermine the good work of her colleagues and the organisation.
