    I was fortunate to be referred for speech therapy at Beckenham Beacon hospital. The therapist was very professionally competent, supportive and kind. I benefitted hugely from the treatment and the exercises I was taught to do at home. I was told to contact the department if I developed problems in the future, which was very reassuring. Everyone in the department was very helpful when I had to contact them and without fail did what they promised. It is a great example of an efficient , well run and effective hospital department

    On April 21st I attended to have a blood test. I accidentally took a ticket before reading the sign and was spoken to exceptionally rudely by one the people taking blood. I was called in on time, told ‘sanitise hands’ then ‘sit down, put form on table’ then quite curtly told to clench my fist. When she was done she simply said ‘hold’ referencing the cotton wool and told ‘you are done’ and that was is. There was absolutely no bedside manner but instead just rudeness throughout the entire time in there.

    Very shocked and surprised by my experience of the phlebotomy clinic. I had booked an appointment and when I was called there were no pleasantries, I was literally barked at to 'use sanitiser' and 'put mask on.' As a Nurse myself I was saddened by the literal rudeness of the phlebotomist. Had I not been about to have my bloods done by this person I would have said something. There's no excuses for this kind of behaviour. The clinic was not busy. For many elderly people that were there, this may be their only interaction of the day with someone. Such a shame as my previous experiences at Beckenham Beacon have been excellent.
