A rather poor service. CBT has strengths and weaknesses but it is clear that this service is about managing a workload and going through the motions. Two major issues have brought me to bother with this review 1. Accounts that were made in writing after the assessment included details clearly needed as part of a proforma but definitively not discussed in the meeting. Clearly some poetic licence is taken in these official records in order to make one compliant. I dread to read my final discharge letter as I imagine it will paint a portrait of a successful recovery which, sadly, is not the case. This practice diminished trust significantly from the outset. Likewise, in one session where we outlined my concerns and goals it was quite clear in the summary written by the therapist that she wasnt listening or understanding. It included details which were so far from what was said, and ignored 80% that I had to rewrite it afterwards before I sent it back. She did not notice. 2. 6 weeks of 30 min sessions, an an assessment call which was brief owing to be made 10 minutes late is not enough. It further feels a cookie cutter approach toward basic coping strategies, while that may be good from a public health perspective it frankly did not engage in any meaningful way with my condition. Indeed no tailoring to the dynamics of post-natal depression seemed to be undertaken at all. My progress to date has been limited, provisional and owing entirely due to other strategies put in place. When I raised this in my final meeting I was told "well CBT is evidence based, so it does work" when asked whether it worked for post natal depression reliably I was given the same answer. This is not actually true. This defensive shifting of the blame to myself was then compounded by me explaining that I have made no progress toward my goals, I was told that the questionnaire (selectively picking one of the range) showed I have gone from a 17 to a 12, so clearly that is not true. Another defensive shifting of the blame. Finally I reiterated while the session as on preventing relapse I still very much feel the same about my relationship to the baby and family. I was still suffering from post-natal depression. I was told this was commonly due to either the patient not properly undertaking the strategies we had sped through over the previous acuminated 2.5 hours or "people are different". I was then discharged. I still have post natal depression and I am worried what I will do next. I was told I can only reapply for help in 3 months time. I am scared and alone. Do not use this service.

After months of telephone consultations finally I got a face to face appointment which just like the phone consultations was only for assessment and fill the same questionnaire I’ve filled many times. The assistant told me I’d be invited for therapies but it’d take about 6 weeks. After 2 weeks I received an email saying they couldn’t contact me and offered another appointment for assessment. It’s going to be one year and don’t see they show any interest on offering a treatment. Too slow procedures
